Day 5 #SciArtSeptember Saffron
Malachite Butterfly.
I wanted to paint this quickly, but then I got caught up in the intricate details of the wings 🤩🦋, so I ended up completing the illustration, and it took me much longer. 🫣

Oops, it’s September already! #SciArtSeptember 1: Malachite.
A Columbian mammoth wading through aquatic plants. Originally a sketching practise, referenced mainly from the beautiful Eofauna figurine. #SciArt
For Day 5 of 2026 #SciArtSeptember #Saffron here is lau'ipala, the yellow tang 🦑🐡🧪
I love how today’s #sciArtSeptember prompt saffron lines up nicely with the storied pigment Orpiment batting it out for the #MinCup26 today.
Vote for Orpiment here:

Today’s #SciArtSeptember prompt is the colour saffron which made me think of a particular yellow-orange mushroom. This is a hand-carved lino block reduction print of a clump of poisonous, Eastern jack-o-lantern mushrooms (Omphalotus illudens) on a hardwood tree stump. 🧪
#SciArtSeptember Day 5 is 'Saffron' and in german there is a very old children's song that has a line about saffron making the cake yellow. My grandma sang it a lot with me as a child, so I always think of cake when I hear 'saffron'
5. Saffron. Saffron Toucanet.
Day 5. #Saffron
A 20-fold "star spiral rose" with the same ratio-sized hole in each square. Plotted in Excel and colored yellow-orange in Krita.
#SciArtSeptember Day 4 is 'Azure'. I'm not sure if the colour of them is azure, but I really wanted to paint a 'palette surgeon fish' 😄
