Veronica has a fear of fire. Which is ironic for a devil with fire magic. She can still light a match, but sudden or large fires just cause a trauma response

Ash doesn't like confrontation. It causes a lot of anxiety in her to be in the middle of an argument or cause trouble

on a real note, tho, the biggest cause of anxiety in DESECRATE is Catholicism. it's the backdrop of the story, and Kit trying to figure out what he believes is core to that. Leaving a religion is never easy, especially one that imparts such helpful gifts as Guilt and Shame

Hi #queerwriters and #LGBTQWriteAThon! TLR involves two terrifying, archaic sources of danger: dinosaurs and the patriarchy. Both cause my characters understandable fear. There are also anxieties over their own gender and sexual identities, but really, those worries are the patriarchy’s fault too.

Cole's primary fear is crippling terror at the thought of being truly known. And it makes him an interesting character to write, but he can also be really tricky because he rarely says what he means!

Jevin sure looks like an incredibly confident transmasc assassin.

He hates his chest. HATES it. Usually it's not bad because he's got really good binders.

But when he's reminded of what's on his chest, it causes major anxiety.

He's very looking forward to top surgery.

In Book 3, Al is worried that Honore is bored and going to dump him, effectively. He's also aware of an unequal power dynamic, which puts him ill at ease.

He doesn't deal with this in the best way (gets mixed up in a cult, oops).
