For what it's worth, I don't think that two #Leafs GMs were wanting to trade Knies. I think that the player wanted out of Toronto, for whatever reason.

The #GoHabsGo are facing the new look #LeafsForever (again) to start their season, in Toronto.

Scheduled puck drop is 7:00pm but with player introduction (#Leafs fans have a lot of new names to learn), it will be later.

It's still unclear if Kirill Marchenko will be available for the #leafs in tonight's season opener against Montreal. He still needs to complete the work visa process.

If you think that replacing Knies by Marchenko will tip the balance enough, you are either overestimating Marchekno or downplaying what Knies had to offer.

The #Leafs aren't adding Marchenko. They are gaining the ever so slight difference between the two.

How does #Leafs nation feel about the Marchenko trade? That was a shocking blockbuster. I could not imagine Elvis in a different uniform than CBJ as goalie, not gonna lie.

p.s. I will mention that Knies WAS being traded to #habs at TDL in 2026, but the #Leafs missed getting necessary paperwork into NHL officials by only a few minutes. Trade return not identified. So Hughes HAD agreed 🤷🏼‍♂️

At the moment, I hate the #Leafs trade. I thought Matthew Knies was one of the best players on the team - a young, big body that can skate.

Really thought he (along with McKenna) would be who they build the team around in the next 5 years.
