@onehitwondered.bsky.socialHappy to discover that no one's labeled The Knack a one-hit wonder for their fantastic single, "My Sharona." Yes, it was a monster... but they had two other US #Top40 hits, including another from 1979... "Good Girls Don't" peaked at #11 that November. #TheKnack #OneHitWondered #MusicSky
@onehitwondered.bsky.socialHappy birthday to Brazilian singer/songwriter & US #OneHitWonder honoree Morris Albert, #BOTD in 1951. @onehitwondered.bsky.socialWhy would it be a vile, contemptuous thing to say about an artist? There are artists worldwide who would give anything to have just one hit... Yet we use the term one-hit wonder in a derogatory way? The fact that Warren Zevon (or any artist) had one song reach the US #Top40 should be celebrated.
@onehitwondered.bsky.socialThe Pleasure Principle is a fantastic album...! Gary Numan became one of my favorite US #OneHitWonder honorees in 1980 when his debut solo single “Cars” spent 17 weeks on the US #Billboard #Top40, peaking at #9. #GaryNuman #OneHitWondered #MusicSky
