It’s weird to see Arizona and New Mexico be affected by heavy rain… Hurricanes have been far more active this year in the Pacific. My heart goes out to all the ones affected. @studentstalkpols.bsky.social #StudentsTalkPolitics

AWW.. the fact his parents smiled first is so warming to not be so worried anymore

Journalism is NOT for the faint of heart. Reporters face enormous challenges and threats from sources both seen and unseen. Press freedom is essential, but the measure of press freedom in the US is in decline:
It really is... the fact that he did take that risk to report, and he didn't get tortured is so scary anyway

Wow hearing Gershkovich made me realize that there are a lot of challenges people go through that we don't always think about

The amount of thoughts that was probably going through his head is so real.. I would've been so scared and would've cried inside.

Hearing about Russia trying to cut off Ukraine's Power Grid is absolute evil. They want "their land" with none of its current occupants and they make it clear as day. It's a shame a lot of these issues just start to die down with little coverage.

The reporter's fears of torture or worse is completely warrented; Being arrested in the middle of gathering/reporting a story that doesn't look good for Vladimir Putin of all people could only mean the worst.
Hearing the journalist describe his detention in Russia on made me think about the risks reporters face. Nobody should be used as a bargaining chip between governments. How can we better protect journalists and freedom of the press? #StudentsTalkPolitics

I remember that after the U.S left Afghanistan their army just crumbled to the Taliban. Instead of building their strength with their connection the world superpower they just used the military like a crutch and when that left they fell

I'd be so terrified if I was this reporter and the fact that his first thought was being tortured is so scary.

Will the withdrawal of the U.S. military from Iraq impact positively or negatively the country of Iraq? I wonder how long they will be able to stay free from the Islamic State...

The hardest part is finding the balance between being independent and still having enough support to deal with ISIS. Iraq being able to handle its own security could be an important step, but I wonder how long it would take before they can do it completely on their own. #StudentsTalkPolitics
You're misspelling the hashtag.
#StudentsTalkPolitics Why is the U.S so focused on the middle east yet ignores the war crimes israel commits in the Gaza strip?
Criquiting the fact that some countries need to depend on the US intervention for safety seems a bit odd. I dont think they can do much other than depend on someone else to help them stand up for themselves. Maybe a different help approach is needed? #StudentsTalkPolitics
"Saddam Hussian was responsible for 1 million Iraqi deaths", this is why he was hanged in the end by his own people #StudentsTalkPolitics @studentstalkpols.bsky.social
You're not using the proper hashtag.
When he said over 4,000 have died in Iraq, I think that's too many; the war needs to end. #StudentsTalkPolitics
