#SongsOfSeptember Aloe probably has a mystical sound to it. I could see a hammered dulcimer for it.
Such Sweet Sorrow doesn't have a unique instrument, I don't think. If it does, then it's a theremin. (Not linking this one because I'm not sold on the thought yet.)
The malaiku is Nixtral’s take on the balalaika, though this traditional Livorian instrument has a deeper sound.
Veldandi is gifted one early in TWT 1, a reminder of learning to play from her father as a young girl, though her skills are a bit rusty…

In Yagmar the Barbarian, Oghni plays a Crwth.
I didn't make it up, but it's a relatively rare and not widely known historical instrument. It can be bowed or plucked and may have had a secondary sound chamber in the neck, giving it a unique sound.
Hello #SongsOfSeptember I'm just a few days late.
The climax of At the Road's End takes place at a rave in a forest. The music is throbbing psychedelic trance, and in particular, the track I have in mind for it is The Calling, by Vini Vici vs. Ace Ventura: youtu.be/VTHh_ecDnDI
#SongsOfSeptember: Day 22
Coming off yesterday, there's Dillon, a traveling bard. He can play a number of instruments, but since he wanders about so much, he tends to focus on what's easy to carry—like the tin whistle, the concertina, & his mainstay: something akin to the Irish bouzouki or cittern
Nothing made up, but Rosenfeld Manor has its own soundscape: an old piano tied to Suzette’s memories, half-heard humming in dark rooms, floorboards settling when no one is there, and a house that always seems to be listening back.

Each megacity is kinda known for a genre/sound or two:
Sundusk: pop, rock, RnB
Stellum: hiphop, pop, folk (after Selene popularized it there)
(Eveport isnt known for music)
(idk about Dawnburrough)
Setsun: synthpop/rock, vocaloid-esque stuff
No unique instruments or sounds, though one character in my mediaeval heist story hears magic, which often sounds anachronistic.
In the beginning, she tries to describe a rock guitar as 'similar to a lyre, but much louder and distorted'
#SongsOfSeptember Day 22
No unique instruments per se, but I've played with the idea of having people being able to produce effects in the magical field of the world by dancing or singing.
I've touched on it in a short story where a group of mages were able to "weave" magic through dancing.
Once Eggy joins the inn's gang in Book 2, she adds her hurdy-gurdy skills to the inn's ambiance. With Aubergine on organ, the overall effect sounds like this:
Loosely. Every God's voice sounds similar to a musical instrument or musical aspect of our natural world (Sétuth's voice sounds like a thousand cicadas chattering, which meld into a 'violently plucked harp', Ipsen's voice sound unmistakably like birdsongs).
(1/4)
Really only have some unnatural screams/roars. To keep it music-related, I use string-based music to represent Portia's web and how she views the world in strands and threads to reflect her true nature. (Tangled Web, TaMB 3)

Something like this for one of wips (about an ugly pagan woman who believes her goddess has abandoned her... only for her to arrive & be there all along. But has come in a new form... a form whom the Christians would call the Virgin Mary)
Yes actually, in Proof Heraldic (the second story for Raven & Bear).
It features the nomadic merchant Rhonda, who plays a crwth. It's an antique Welsh instrument which uses a bow and has a dreary tone.

He'll grow crystal flowers from the soil of your agony. The only breeze to grace its bloom are faint, echoing screams. Final breaths, trapped in his eternal grasp.
That's why they call him Sérézen. The Wave Weaver.
Well my WIP is set on the California coast, so beachside sounds definitely play a part of the story. Especially since the MMCs live right on the beach. Makes for a relaxing soundtrack made by nature

#SongsOfSeptember 22. Any unique instruments or sounds to your story?
It takes place in an outlaw clubhouse. Any sounds are just boys being gross 😝 . No unique instruments except Tabatha's pineapple painted ukulele
#SongsOfSeptember 20. Song that fits the climax of story?
This was a bit hard. But this has the vibe of the climax point.
Falling in Reverse "God Is A Weapon"

21. Any musical characters?
Tabatha plays the ukulele. It doesn't really add much other than her quirkiness.
#SongsofSeptember Day 22: Special sound/instrument
ALL CAUGHT UP!
No instruments, unless you stretch that concept really hard, but as per my answer to question 21, sound is incredibly important.
It's hard to get into without spoilers. D :
I can say, the MC encounters some (possible?) creatures /
