These shiny green Aventurin gemstones are again mainly made of #quartz, one of the most common minerals on the Earth's surface. The green color comes from small Fuchsite impurities, a Cr-containing, green variety of #mica.

After 10 years, #quartz deserves a win this time! #TeamQuartz.

These lovely brown, shimmering gemstones are #quartz. This variety is called Tiger's Eye 🐯. The cat's eye effect or chatoyancy comes from parallel intergrowth of quartz and limonite, which developed from amphibole impurities. Tiger's Eye can mainly be found in metamorphic rocks.

There's always room for one more. Vote #Quartz - the most inclusive mineral 😁

You want to talk about why you should vote #Quartz? May I present exhibit SR71!

The windows were made of 1.25 inches of solid quartz to be able to withstand the 600 Fahrenheit temperatures caused by smashing air molecules at Mach 3.

Cone on. #Asagiite had its chances in recent years, this time I am with
#quartz superstar. I mean, piezoeletricity. I mean, helical structure. I mean, thermoluminescence. I mean, the memory of cosmic rays in Be-10 and Al-26. I mean, amethyst. Vote quartz! #MinCup26

#Quartz Cats!

Or Quartz Quatz, maybe.

#Quartz supports a transparent, honest election.

Propagandizing #Quartz for #MinCup26, yet arging against it being that significant on a crustal scale....

Undulose Extinction!!! ❤️❤️❤️

Vote #Quartz, the Undulator.

#MinCup26

Shocked it's behind in the voting, as i have to vote for the first mineral I could routinely ID bc of its undulose extinction 🥰 #quartz

Kinda chic to back #quartz in #MinCup26. And if its beauty does not convince you, consider that β-quartz has negative thermal expansion: it contracts on heating. Antao reported the structural origin in @actacrystb.iucr.org: journals.iucr.org/b/issues/201...

I really didn’t think #Asagiite would stand a chance? Instead of being absolutely slammed, it’s in the lead and I’m feeling forlorn fine poor #quartz.

Quartz is legit cool enough I could write totally different themes every #MinCup26 round & still have leftovers.

With all due respect to @mikamckinnon.bsky.social, I'm team #quartz. It was one of the first minerals in my childhood connection, and at the end of the day, I'm basic and I own it.

#Quartz.

Quartz remembers the sunlight for centuries, for millennia, for a hundred thousand years.

Quartz remembers the warm of the sun as it tumbled down rivers, blew across deserts.

Quartz remembers as it lies buried in the dark beneath dunes, beneath forgotten riverbeds.
