She recommended I get rid of my “Gramps” character and it strengthen Brody’s relationship with his mom and neighbors. A lot of trust there bc who doesn’t love a Gramps? #kidlitchat
I think it was an interesting idea that I would definitely like to try again. #kidlitchat
This is sad, but there are worse food sadnesses.... #kidlitchat
I'd have to choose trust. You can't give or take honest feedback without trusting that the person on the receiving end has the capability and objectivity to process it. In former critique group, a frequent comment was "I know you and I know you can manage (whatever the issue)." #kidlitchat
I don't think it got very far, but it was an interesting idea. #kidlitchat
That's a lucky relationship to have. #kidlitchat
Sadly, I haven't been able to eat a poptart in over a decade, since they started using palm oil in their recipe. Sometimes I look at the "make your own poptarts" recipes and I'm tempted to do it, even though that basically defeats the purpose of a poptart. #KidLitChat
That's awesome. Many, many moons ago, there was a writring group I belonged to that was an offshoot of the Westeros online community and we tried doing a collaborative Game of Thrones (back when it was ASOIAF only) type novel where we all took a POV. It was interesting. #kidlitchat

Good editors or critiquers make me a better writer with their thoughts and notes. It's not that they offer solutions (usually) but they help me understand what will make something better on levels that I'm not reaching. That's what I look for. #kidlitchat
Some author friends and I started a horror novel, where one wrote chapter 1, then passed it on to someone else, who wrote chapter 2. No plot or outline, just picking up where the others left off. We ran out of steam before we finished, but it was so much fun! #kidlitchat
I've been doing peer editing with my college prep and college writing courses. I'm not one of the "complment sandwich"types, but my editing protocols emphsize the positive. #kidlitchat
I'm a terrible crit partner, and I've talked about this before, because as a teacher I'm constantly reading and critiquing student work, I'm gassed. #kidlitchat
I think HONEST YET TACTFUL covers the basics of a good critique partner. 😆 #kidlitchat
And I will add that all around it's bracing to have work that challenges and enlarges understanding and craft, in any role - critique partner, editor, beta reader. It's such a thrill and honor to read and review others' work when it's singing. #kidlitchat
I have these great ideas for two anthologies but I don't have the name to pull them off. I think it would be fun to work with a bunch of other authors writing in common setting/theme. #kidlitchat
