Paterson takes the opportunity to welcome and name a friend and neighbour of Indigenous descent from Winnipeg. Doesn't say much else. #yyjpoli

Green says Oak Bay deserves some credit as being a welcoming community. Says Sno'uyutth Welcome Pole demonstrates that we are accepting and open. We should recruit Elders and volunteers to participate in Council and District events. #yyjpoli

Council candidate Kat Weller talks about her upbringing on Shíshálh lands and her approach in literacy work around being a life long learner. Overall all the intros are thoughtful - notably (perhaps unsurprisingly) we have no Indigenous candidates. #yyjpoli #bcpoli

Paterson talks about her parents fighting the Sixties Scoop, Starkweather talks about building community and her learning, Sweeney says she wants to be an ally in all she does. #yyjpoli #bcpoli

My thumbs can't capture everything. Helme and Moore both give thoughtful intros. Moore talks about believing in how we have two ears and one mouth. #yyjpoli #bcpoli

Incumbents Braithwaite and Green introduce themselves. Braithwaite talks about her bio and the importance of relationships. Green shares thoughtfully discovering her own ignorance about the experiences of Indigenous Peoples as a long, but gets cut off for time. #yyjpoli #bcpoli

Current Mayor Kevin Murdoch talks about wanting to share more tonight about progress on reconciliation during his time as Mayor #yyjpoli #bcpoli

Mayoral candidate Sam Holland opens talking about the importance of reconciliation work, his family history as the descendant of Holocaust survivors and people who pushed for women's rights and racial justice. Talks about learning from Indigenous elders and knowledge keepers. #yyjpoli #bcpoli

Organizers confirm tonight is being recorded. #yyjpoli #bcpoli

Talking about cultural teaching and ecological restoration work on the land, and the importance of na'tsa'maht - pulling together as one. #yyjpoli #bcpoli

Indigenous opening is purposeful, educational, and substantive. Talks about the importance of political leadership to speak truth and to stand up against anti-Indigenous racism (e.g. the horrific white nationalist presence in Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc this week). #yyjpoli #bcpoli

Folks are gathering at the CCPA for tonight's Reconciliaction Oak Bay forum. Looks like we have both mayoral candidates and 8/9 Council candidates - no place card for David Gleeson. #yyjpoli #bcpoli

Bruce McGuigan promising to revisit the design of Clover Point with a citizen's assembly should be immediately disqualifying in this race, my god #yyjpoli www.facebook.com/reel/2891625...

Planning to head down to ReconciliACTION Oak Bay's all candidate forum tonight. Not much candidate activity so far on Bluesky (but then 1 council candidate doesn't even have a website 🤷🏼‍♀️) - but we'll see if we can share out some key pieces for folks who couldn't make it! #yyjpoli #OakBayBC #bcpoli

A new campaign video featuring some of my canine friends. Penny, Aberdeen, Newton, Chumley, Cali, Shyla, Emma, Maja, Mabel, Hector, and Maple: Who’s a good dog? You are! #OakBayBC #yyjpoli

• MLA advocating for education funding model updates
• CRD transportation + school bus/student transit
• bike systems that are compatible across boundaries
• progressive water pricing

What else?

On #amalgamation, are you yeah or nay? Have we got a story for you: UNamalgamation: The Birth of Central Saanich!

Our First #TalkAndTea of the autumn season is a timely #yyjpoli subject: UNamalgamation: The Birth of Central Saanich!

Join us Sept 27th 2-4pm, #LogCabinMuseum. $10 cash at the door.

I see it and breathe it almost every day from April through October. The cost to our health, environment and ecosystems far outweighs the 2% of tourism dollars. We are on a precipice. Some say it’s already too late. #yyj #yyjpoli #bcpoli #cdnpoli #climatecrisis #pollutionkills

I assume Mike Harris *wants* to communicate he has the personality of a fascist Tonka truck? that's what his signs are giving #yyj #yyjpoli
