Three views of TTC streetcars in various locations around Toronto on Sept. 14, 1925.

The photos were taken by Alfred Pearson to illustrate road safety matters for the Ontario Safety League, in partnership with the TTC.

166 years ago today: Allan Gardens in Toronto was officially opened on the occasion of the visit of The Prince of Wales - Sept. 11, 1860

Last year I was excited to celebrate the Grand Re-Opening of the restored Palm House at Allan Gardens.

165 years ago today Toronto rolled out a brand-new way to travel: Canada’s very first streetcar line, running along Yonge Street. Operated by the Toronto Street Railway, the debut was marked with great fanfare on Sept. 10, 1861.

I'd heard about the annual Steam Era event for many, many years, but 2026 was my first time actually being there. It did not disappoint!

Made this compilation video from the photos and video I took.
Hope you enjoy it!

When the GPS in your 1940s Beechcraft 18 updates 80 years too late and drops you right in the middle of modern-day Toronto. 😏🤙🍁

A close-up, dramatic telephoto photograph shows a vintage military aircraft flying dangerously close to the main pod of the CN Tower in Toronto, appearing to slice through the structure. The silver twin-engine aircraft, a historic Beechcraft 18 bearing Royal Canadian Air Force roundels, is angled downward as it flies directly in front of the tower's lower observation deck. A thick, realistic plume of smoke or explosion effects appears to erupt right where the airplane’s fuselage meets the concrete structure, creating the illusion of a catastrophic mid-air impact. In the background, the iconic concrete and glass observation levels of the tower are highly detailed under bright daylight, with a few tiny silhouettes of people visible on the EdgeWalk platform above. The overall composition mimics a high-stakes action movie stunt or a perfectly timed optical illusion from an airshow performance.

With the Canadian International Air Show wrapping up for another year, today I thought I'd leaf through my collection of CIAS ephemera and record the experience.
