@daviddmarantz.bsky.socialThe Weight (1h53m)
Decent if unoriginal concept but the script feels sluggish and predictable and the direction messy, giving the piece an overall mediocre feel despite a solid cast (that doesn't feature Russell Crowe as much as the poster implies).

Great Performances, Slightly Long, Predictable, Hard To Follow Action – Guess Why?
Director Padraic McKinley chose an unusual style to film this production. Overall, it’s dark and grainy film stock and once again during all the action...

‘The Weight’ is a low burn thriller in the 1930’s about complicated men.

@drdamianduffy.bsky.social#TheWeight is really good. Like if William Friedkin's Sorcerer was also very very slightly uplifting. Plus, Russell Crowe is in it not doing an absolutely insane accent, so you know he showed up for artistic reasons.
@pkcjustice.bsky.socialSaw #TheWeight. Brilliantly excellent. Great storyline, action scenes, emotions, and the perfect cast that brought everything to life. #EthanHawke #RussellCrowe
@moviemaiden.bsky.social#TheWeight was a thrilling experience! Ethan Hawke and Russell Crowe were both excellent, and I also loved the setting and the intense plot. This one will probably be one of my hidden gems of this year.

@almostflmcritic.bsky.social#TheWeight is a wonderful slow burn of a heist picture/thinly-veiled critique of capitalism. Ethan Hawke continues to prove he's one of finest of the craft. I wish every movies with 100x the budget could look as beautiful as this.
