Update on #TheHormuzCrisis

The expected meeting tomorrow that was supposed to announce the Oman / Iran Hormuz details has been postponed.

Unsure if this is because of the Yemen war or because of the continued attacks on merchant vessels.

This is a real blow to any hopes of peace soon…

I know pointing out #Trump really barely has a grip on reality at this stage is really not news.

But he gets contradicted these days while he is still talking, and people still take him seriously.

#TheHormuzCrisis and #YemenHouthiWar both escalating and he says it is fine…

Hormuz remains the centre of the system.

Some ships are passing, but access is selective, militarised and affected by flag, ownership, cargo, route and political association.

That is very different from ordinary commercial freedom of navigation under international law.

I have spent months analysing individual attacks, corridors and negotiations around #TheHormuzCrisis.

Today I have assessed the whole maritime system from Suez to Iraq, because these are no longer separate crises and cannot be understood through isolated headlines alone.

I am trying my best to keep this reported on here too... please ask if you want anything explained by someone deemed somewhat of an expert on these things...

More strikes against the Houthi-held Mocha.

Missiles now, in addition tot he air-strikes earlier.

I haven't found any confirmation / rebuttal from Saudi Arabia with regards the reports of smoke rising from the east/west oil pipeline earlier today.

I have been a little lax in covering the environmental impacts as well as the human and maritime impacts of #TheHormuzCrisis, so will focus there this morning.

There have also been significant moves in the Bab al'Mandeb strait, which requires more attention.

Reports that Houthi forces have taken Mokha in Yemen bring renewed pressure near Bab al-Mandeb, the southern entrance to the Red Sea.

That does not mean the passage is closed, but it matters because this sea route also helps carry oil diverted away from Hormuz.

Not that you would know from Western media (I have been watching) - Iran is currently under bombardment for the third straight night after a day of attacks and deaths of seafarers...

Despite Trumps' unceasing ramblings, #TheHormuzCrisis is far from over...

Deja Vu...

Another night of horror and death

A very sad update to this...

A sailor has been reported killed and one is still listed as missing after this incident...

More victims of #TheHormuzCrisis for the crime of going to work....

Since the beginning of #TheHormuzCrisis I have tried to explain the effects on the shipping industry and seafarers in all of this.

Seafarers now face more dangerous conditions, less chance of relief and there is no end in sight for the conflict.

The shipping industry is now in full crisis.

It has been another night of horror in #TheHormuzCrisis

The US says it struck five more Iranian tankers on 8 September after missile attacks on an American warship.

That brings its announced total since 5 September to eight tankers attacked, not eight independently verified sinkings.

#TheHormuzCrisis

In response to an attack on a warship (legitimate target) - the US has struck at least 2 merchant tankers at anchor in Iranian waters (not targets and possibly a war crime).

So in response - Iran has threatened more potential war crimes against sailors from unrelated countries...

There were no major new attacks overnight. But that does not mean nothing happened.

Iran's statements over the last 24 hours may have revealed the next phase of #TheHormuzCrisis: not simply closing the Strait, but building a system to control who can use it.

@ashoro.co.ukSep 6, 2026, 7:04 PM

This is actually a very important update in #TheHormuzCrisis

I talked earlier about vessel identification and the effects of sanctions hitting fertiliser and container ships for example.

This is a mechanism to do just that from the Iranian side. If the USA reciprocates the theory becomes reality.

@ashoro.co.ukSep 6, 2026, 3:40 PM

Finally we have reached the moment I feared as someone documenting #TheHormuzCrisis...

Iran is saying one thing, the USA is saying another.

There is no evidence on either side. There is nothing to corroborate or debunk either claim.

And we are at the point where neither is considered reliable...

21/25

The disruption inevitably will spread beyond #TheHormuzCrisis.

Longer voyages occupy ships and containers for longer, while diverted cargo competes for space elsewhere.

Freight costs and delivery times can rise for customers whose goods never went near Hormuz.

@ashoro.co.ukSep 5, 2026, 1:56 PM

Back and forth attacks in the Persian Gulf as #TheHormuzCrisis is ramping up again.

The UsA claim the attacks ongoing on tankers around Kharg Island are in response to attacks on US patrol vessels in the area.

This looks like it will continue throughout the day.

Just as I was beginning to hope once again that peace was breaking out, #TheHormuzCrisis continues.

This time it is up near Kharg Island. Missiles fired at and hit an Iranian tanker - once again putting seafarers in danger.
