Fantastic how the battle in the Mutara Nebula plays out like submarine warfare

I once got to ask Walter Koenig at DragonCon if he ever got tired of Chekov getting "whumped" all the time.
"I love it," he deadpanned. "It gives me a sexual thrill."

I love this score so much.

"I'll say this for him, he's consistent."
Did I miss something? Why does Kirk's communicator look so cheap? Did they rig a special get-through-the-interference model?

"You lied!"
"I exaggerated."
Everyone was very cool at the conventions. Nimoy, Doohan, Takei, Nichols, all of them. Except Shatner. Who did not appear back then, to be sure.
I would practice opening my flip phone Star Trek style.

Shatner is the most Shatner who has ever Shatnered.
The effects team for this film, Ken Ralston and Jim Veilleux were relegated to a corner of ILM's building. Most of it was given over to "E.T. The Extra Terrestrial."

You have seen where Douglas Trumbull and John Dykstra's visual effects from the first film were repurposed for this second film. That was because of the lower budget.

Spock: "Jim, be careful."
Bones: "*We* will."

Ah! "At the Movies," the series that single-handedly ended the movie review TV series. I still call Ben Mankiewicz "Ben of The Two Bens."
You know we're all just waiting to post that meme. So, fuck it, I'll just do it now. 😂
The Genesis Project video is an example of some of the first CGI effects used in film. The star field effects you saw in the Main Titles were also CGI.
The great battle between William Shatner and Ricardo Montalbán...to see who at times can chew the hell out of the scenery the most. 😂
Doohan was great! I got to meet him and get his autograph at at least two "Trek" conventions.
Also...Wow! They're actually letting you watch "Star Trek II" with us? 😀
"I don't know you. But, you, I never forget a face. I have seen every episode of the Original Series."
Naturally, Chekov and Turrell just stand there outside the remnants of the Botany Bay to get taken instead of beaming up...
To me, the action and violence packed second film was for movie fans who wanted that in a "Star Trek" movie. The philosophical elements were in very short supply after the first film. And it stayed that way through the final "Next Generation" film.
