Maybe how something could happen simultaneously but still be balance? I feel myself started to notice the environment around and where the audio is trying to bring me to, and I think that’s a point made by the book is the “awareness of environment/medium.” #soundstudy
It didn’t last long because just after a few seconds everything went back to normal, the contrast made it more obvious which I think wouldn’t reach the same effect if visuals played a role #soundstudy
The whole sound track seems very smooth and balance for me except for 8:02, I don’t know what’s up with the scary sound effect. But I do think that we I only focus on the sound without visuals, it scared me more because you put all of your attention just on hearing itself. #soundstudy
#soundstudy i liked the sounds where it felt like the great hall in hogwarts... very reminiscent of old fanfictions i read. tempting to steal
I wonder why they choose the different noises they did and why they decided to not put any images? Do they think that really distracts the listener from hearing the noise? 🤔 #soundstudy
#soundstudy the way she says my knickerbocker glory, and the music crescendos and then turns into the sounds of a theme park i think all really made me think of the environment being created, not just by the words but how i felt the glory though the enviroment
#soundstudy 7:27 when she talks about the family togetherness with such warmth and then says, "this will change" and then i waited for an explanation and there wasn't any. still unsettled. it think it works well without image, as it leaves it all to the imagination
This audio made me realize how by hearing familiar noises you can start building a perception in your head of what is going on without having the images. #soundstudy
8:00 surprised me a lot!! I was like how did I go from hearing noise in a kitchen to now hearing noise that sounds like a roller coaster or an amusement park. Not seeing exactly what's going on def made me wonder how the shift looked like. I noticed the noise and focused on it. #soundstudy
#soundstudy the calming music of violins, the ocean, angelic singing, and tweeting birds applied a different perspective alongside the screams or the dialogue. might steal this...
#soundstudy before reading "the medium is the message" i wouldn't have interpreted the sounds separately from the words being said in the podcast. The sounds would've been used to fill the silent space between dialogue. now i see the sounds play a role with the meaning of the words being spoken
#soundstudy 7:40-8:00 when she is describing how small she is, a visual would've helped with picturing it. until she said "hears comes my #knickerboker before the screams, i was so lost how the vibe changed...
In all honesty, I was and am very confused about how we kept going from one part to another with no smooth transition. #soundstudy
Before reading TMITM, I probably would have just skimmed past the audio with my eyes closed, ignoring every detail. But now, I am trying to dissect what is going on at each moment through only sound, trying to visualize what is going on in my head. #soundstudy
A timestamp that surprised me was 8:00; it was such an abrupt moment with public chaos. If there were visuals, it would just show a crowd of people in one area doing their own thing. The lack of an image just showed pure chaos. #soundstudy
I really liked the echoing sound effect at the end. It was very disorienting, especially for me because I had my volume like all the way up in my headphones and the sound was going back and forth between sides, but it was cool and I would definitely want to incorporate it in my own work. #soundstudy
