The Raiders had to score sooner here.
You don't want to give the Chargers any belief here.
Now they are playing from behind.
The Raiders are in a great place.

Kirk Cousins with a 41-yard TD bomb to Tre Tucker.
7-0, Raiders.
You can't teach this throw.

This game is winnable for the Raiders.
I felt this way all week.
There's nothing special about Justin Herbert and the Chargers.

I had no idea the Raiders and Chargers have a history back in the 60s.
Growing up as a kid, I never thought of Chargers as a rival. I looked at them as just another team. I always looked at the Donkeys and Chiefs as hated rivals.

Raiders 0 Chargers 0 after 1.
Good afternoon, everyone!

I love Klint Kubiak, but that was stupid. Take the points.
There was no need to go for it this early at 4th down.
This was Overcoaching 101.

I wasn't surprised the Raiders beat the Dolphins on Sunday. I picked the Raiders to win that game since the Dolphins are not a good football team. That's one of the five wins the Raiders had to get.

You want to make some money? Bet on the Raiders to beat the Chargers on Sunday. The Chargers are ripe for the taking after a brutal game this past Sunday at home against Arizona.

My column on the Raiders' 23-17 season-opener win against the Dolphins:
Raiders fans have every right to celebrate yesterday's win after watching bad football for so long. There's hope now. You saw tangible evidence yesterday with the young players and the coaching. This is a team that is going to be even better.
Here's what you saw yesterday, Raiders fans. Klint Kubiak can flat-out coach, and you can see why Mark Davis and Tom Brady wanted him.
It should be an epic finish for the winner of the Archie Manning sweepstakes by either the Dolphins or Colts. I'm just glad the Raiders are no longer participating in this contest.
The Raiders will beat the Chargers on Sunday. I saw enough to have a conviction.
The Raiders were the tougher and disciplined team today.
I knew the Raiders had this game by the fourth quarter. I picked them to beat the Dolphins. The Raiders had the edge at quarterback. Most importantly, they had the edge at coaching. Knew Klint Kubiak would have them ready to go.
It must be nice to have a competent quarterback, doesn't it. Kirk Cousins was the adult in the room today. He was rolling from the start, including 9-of-9 drives. Impressive all around. I loved how he answered his interception with a touchdown later.
The defense did a good job overall today. I thought getting a stop at the third try in the Dolphins' first series set the tone to the unit's game day, and it set the tone to the game overall.
The offensive line was a sieve in recent years.
Today, it was good.
Again, you can see the coaching right there, which was not the case when Pete Carroll's son was not qualified to be an OL coach.
The Raiders did everything right on offense mixing up plays such as running and passing. I loved how they utilized Ashton Jeanty by making him a WR, too. You can see the coaching here.
Not only the Raiders being well-coached was my favorite part of the win, but the young guys such as Jack Bech, Malik Benson, Treydan Stukes, Mike Washington Jr. and others contributed to the win by playing well. You can see why there's hope now.
