Yesterday I watched the final episode of #SayonaraLara, and it was visually spectacular, featuring an original story that strongly evokes Mermaid Melody and Mahou no Mako-chan, yet with a more mature and melancholic tone.

We can all agree that the finale to Goodbye Lara clearly had a trans, & that means a lot to me. So I decided to draw this piece to commemorate the ending of the anime.

#SayonaraLara Just giving it like half the episode could have opened up so much more time the girls to actually have talked to each other. Wouldn't solve the other issues from the first 4/5 of the version put out, but might have tied together better and given *some* agency to Mari.

While I am still chewing on the #SayonaraLara ending and how to articulate my issues with it, *so* much of it could have been cleaned up if they had just snipped out like half an episode of the Luca stuff that basically was repeated twice, and gave the time skip more than 5 minutes to breathe.

I'm trying to process why #SayonaraLara ending is such a let down by comparing it to other non-explicit Yuri show ending.

Until it hit me like a truck that the best example is itself. An Episode 8

It's insane how that episode ending did Mari, Lara & their relationship better as a whole.

Also despite my disappointment for the ending, I'd still highly recommend the show, it's beautiful and I can't stop thinking about it, I desperately need a sequel, OVA, or movie about Mari and Lara's reunion #sayonaralara #sayolara

Leaving it vague and implicit only makes sense as an artificially imposed exercise for the reader, it demands you look at the characters not as people but as raw storytelling functions - a lot of people will find and have found that to be an *incredibly jarring* proposition. #SayonaraLara

And more critically, I know I'm a broken record on this but I need people who like the SayoLara ending to really try and understand here: there is a lot of good in-universe reason for Lara and Mari to *talk to each other about these things*, and *none whatsoever* for them not to. #SayonaraLara
