#QueerPrompts Several characters come out in The Witch of Eden Hollow.
Avery came out as gay to his dad and his brothers.
In turn, Avery's dad came out as bi!
Sterling had been stealth as a trans man out of fear, but he learned to embrace that part of himself and come out to the people he trusts.

I guess the closest instance is Adelaide. She comes from a planet with legally enforced heteronormativity, but pings every spacer's gaydar. like immediately.

Actually, no. All my queer characters are already out and it’s treated as normal. #QueerPrompts

I have a couple of coming out flashbacks written for Devoted; one for when Seth realizes he's a man and one for when Devross accepts that he's gay.

In Something Unseen Sown, Duvall has to constantly come out, because he keeps meeting new people and he doesn't "pass".

In my current crime WIP, kind of. Eric has already found out stuff about Nate before they meet and he just casually offers Nate a fuck date later, so that's his coming out.

#QueerPrompts In #S3, Elena kind of does? Not so much as an orientation come-out, but she confesses feelings for Rebecca.

Same with Phoebe in #YP.

#TFTNG - Cypress comes out at nonbinary in Lemon Balm, and Acanthus has a convo about their identity in Aloe, but there are no broad sweeping moments.

My characters don't really come out.

Ata crushes on girls in several stories. Sir Corbyn sleeps with a polycule in The Lake Hopper and talks about his own periods in The Eisteddfod when Ata gets her first. Raven & Bear is queer normative.

October #QueerPrompts 11. National Coming Out Day: Do any of your characters come out in your story?

I think the only character who struggles with coming out (due to her upbringing in a place where certain expectations are placed) is Kasandra. She—

Since the current WIP is a sequel, everybody is already out. But in He's Not for Me, Cole tentatively comes out to Ezra while Ezra is in the midst of figuring out his own sexuality.

And I drew on a lot of my own experiences writing Max's bi awakening in Take It From the Top 🩷💜💙

It's been a comfort to have casual queerness in different shows and books. I think it depends how you identify positive representation. I'm a little burnt out on media only showing the struggles not the joys.

Day 11. Do any of your characters come out in your story?

Characters did and Anastasia will eventually. Vivian, Weylin, and Xander are already out.

#QueerPrompts 11. The only coming out in the story is from Ashrah. She didn't know about gender and stuff before, and after she learns it, she identifies herself as a trans (demon) woman.

"Coming out" isn't much of a thing in the queernormative realms.

In SmokeWIP, Matthew comes out to his best friend after over a decade of keeping his sexuality secret! His best friend takes it really well, but that was only part of the worry motivating him to stay closeted in the first place 🫠 #QueerPrompts

In chaos gremlins, Trent comes out as nonbinary/gender fluid, but mostly because he figures it out for himself

I write queer normative worlds, so usually not! However, Callum in The Bird and the Blade comes to understand his demisexuality by explaining his feelings to Wilder and Barkley. It’s self-discovery and coming out together!

@ambooneauthor.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 2:32 PM

Yes! Leo eventually comes out as a trans man, and his daughter Adrienne comes out as a lesbian around the same time.

William kinda-sorta comes out. He's known that he was genderfluid since he was 16, but doesn't see it as a big enough deal to Come Out™.

Yes. Savage as You is very, very coming of age but queer. The characters are all trying to navigate who they are, what they want, and they're all very much making mistakes along the way. As well as the harms of repressing who you are. How it can end up hurting people.

No, Hunted and Called is set in a queer-normative society, so no need to 'come out'. That's the case with most of my stories, actually.
