"It has its drawbacks, of course. You're probably pretty cold. You only get to wear these flowy, sinewy, see-through gowns, or else a sheet. But not like a normal ghost sheet with holes for eyes, I mean one that you just have to wrap around you and cling to it like it's the closest thing to a material possession you're still able to have. Claire puzzled for a moment, then asked, "Barefoot? Do ghosts even have feet? The lower part of their body just sorta trails off. Or their whole body is just a blob of marshmallow fluff..."

Chapter 8: Complicated

Liz pulled her car up to the gatehouse and stopped before the closed gate. This tiny building was no bigger than a phone booth, she noticed. Liz had never seen a real phone booth, of course, but she'd seen a lot of old movies. Most people had seen them too, probably, so everybody still knew what a phone booth looked like. Even people that didn't watch old movies knew that Superman changed clothes in a phone booth. And it was certainly a safer bet to say it looked like a phone booth than to say what it actually looked even more like, which was the TARDIS. Because then she'd have to explain what *that* was. Not that that mattered. None of this mattered. She wasn't here to describe the gatehouse for posterity, she was here to try to get Claire out of the mental hospital. *Why is my brain like this*, she thought.
