Thought-provoking keynote from Wes McKinney this AM @ #positconf2026

The existential dread in the wake of AI is real, but he reminds us the human touch is still essential to building great products.

Wes McKinney’s keynote at #positconf2026 is 🔥

The idea of a clanker constitution is one I’ve been working on as well, but not as elegant. Luckily he’s sharing it so we can read and learn from it.

Day 1 of posit::conf was totally rad! 🎸 From AI data agents to @christinezhang.bsky.social's keynote on handling uncertainty (and THE NEEDLE 📈), to an 80s party with big hair!

Thanks for the gnarly photo, @travisgerke.bsky.social 🤘

Finally meeting the amazing @tanyashapiro.bsky.social in person and sharing the stage with her was so fun!

Today at #positconf2026, I went rogue and interrupted the evening keynote with a nonsensical virtual poll because of some (hilarious?) technical issues 👀

You had to be there virtually, I promise it would have made sense. ANYONE WOULD HAVE DONE THE SAME!

They haven't fired me yet 👉🏼👈🏼

It was a blast presenting on "Teaching Python with Positron" at #positconf2026. @posit.co knows how to do a data science conference. Thanks to my son Joseph for helping me put together some fun, human-made illustrations. lnkd.in/g-Y36kbk

For the first time in my 8 years at Posit I’m missing #positconf2026, but this year I had a very good reason to stay home 🙂

Day 1 of talks at posit::conf(2026) started with keynote speakers @sara-altman.bsky.social and @simonpcouch.com

They talked about Posit’s efforts on building AI tools that are correct (trustworthy) while staying convenient (straightforward and intuitive).

"We have a lot of R fans on my team" NY Times graphics editor @christinezhang.bsky.social tells #PositConf2026 🎉
She also said she often sketches out graphics using #RStats ggplot2 and is a frequent user of the Positron IDE.

Great keynote by @christinezhang.bsky.social at #positconf2026 giving us the behind the scenes story of the NYT election needle and laying out the many angles to consider when "squaring the circle" of visualizing data uncertainty for a broad audience. Thank you!

This keynote by @christinezhang.bsky.social starts off strong by casually showing us that squaring a circle is mathematically impossible

"How to be clear when you can't be certain" is also just a great talk title

@posit.co is working on a project called Canvas, a much more LLM-focused way of working than their current IDEs. Positron and RStudio have LLM chats in a vertical sidebar; Canvas give AI way more screen real estate. It should be ready try out soon, CTO @jcheng5.bsky.social told #PositConf2026
