Wasnt expecting a flamingo on my Severnside patch visit yesterday. Green ring, so presumed to be the one from Birdland in Bourton, that’s spent plenty time in the upper estuary. #birding #patchbirding

"Been a good year for Jackdaw", probably no-one ever said. Patch record counts of Jackdaw (graph) and Rook in the park in recent weeks though. Lots of crows plus Magpie and Jay to collect the set of corvids this week.

Dipper and Grey wagtail along the Beck for more attractive birding.

Eclipse drake wigeon on Tynemouth Boating Lake this morning. A great bird for the boating lake but disappointing, given it's mid-September, that wigeon is the best bird of the day. Will this run of westerlies ever end...? #nebirding #patchbirding

The wind ran through Girdle Ness today and birds were seeking respite. A Whimbrel hunkered with Curlews on the rocks. A Ruff, my first of the year, and a Bar-tailed Godwit found the golf course meadow facsimile appealing.

#Patchbirding this evening: out on rural Godinton Park, there were Swallows & House Martins feeding in every direction that I looked. 4 Mistle Thrushes & 1 Rook were notable (neither are regular here) plus Reed Bunting & Grey Wagtail. A Whitethroat is the first I have seen here for several weeks.

Managed to spot the female Garganey at Corkagh Park this morning. That's it in the photo, you'll have to take my word for it! #walkininclondalkin #patchbirding

I was pleased to see this male Stonechat on the wall of St Fittick's Church today, my first in the area for a while. Seasonal shifts were demonstrated by a few skeins of Pink-footed Geese overhead, while a late Swift flew south.

… #patchbirding … and then a Juvenile/Immature PEREGRINE FALCON appeared over the Hothfield Waterfall Lake & Flood Gap. The Corvids & Pigeons were taking a strong dislike to it. That is 100 species for the patch so far this year !!! ✅😁 … now where is that Mute Swan ??? 🤣🤣🤣
