@woodee.bsky.socialBlack Sabbath - Never Say Die (1978)
8th studio album and one of the only ones I have heard recently that don't have any standout tracks they were famous for.
This album generally doesn't feel too heavy or dark. There aren't ballads but it still feels a bit lighter.
@woodee.bsky.socialThe Prodigy - Experience (1992)
I think I was aware in passing of the song "Charly" which used samples from a PSA video about child safety back in the 70s (Charly says).
All songs give a good 90s vibe and I believe are timeless!
@rommana.bsky.social@rommana.bsky.social@woodee.bsky.socialPain Of Salvation - BE (2024)
It was also performed live as a "rock opera". Feels very progressive rock with a theme going through it. One of my go to tracks is a piano solo song "Pluvius Aestivus".
I haven't been successful finding the "rock opera" DVD version to buy.
@woodee.bsky.socialOpeth - In Cauda Venenum (2019)
A double album, one English, one Swedish. I may not know what it's about but unique to have two language versions. The music is solid, no death metal here!
@woodee.bsky.socialPeter Best - Crocodile Dundee (1986)
Classic movie with a classic soundtrack. "That's not a knife...."
Memorable for the last scene climax and the music theme playing over it.
@rommana.bsky.social@rommana.bsky.social@woodee.bsky.socialThe Last Of The Mohicans (1992)
GREAT movie! Love this soundtrack...
The ending of the film gives me chills every time and the music just brings back all the emotions!
@rommana.bsky.social@woodee.bsky.socialDream Theater - Dream Theater (2013)
Deeply personal to me (for reasons I won't share). Second album with Mike Mangini (drums) using his unique style.
Songs seem to have a very similar arrangement but still remain enjoyable.
Saw them live on this album tour!
@woodee.bsky.socialDire Straits - Love Over Gold (1982)
"Money for Nothing" was where is started for me. I only knew of this album when I received a box set as a present. Many albums seem to cross pollenate with songs, so I'd already heard "Telegraph Road" and "Private Investigations".
@woodee.bsky.socialRed Hot Chilli Peppers - Blood Sugar Sex Magik (1991)
I bought this album (on cassette) because of music videos, along with "One Hot Minute". If I were to describe this album... "Very horny"!
I thought hair metal bands sung about sex a lot... but then there was this!
@woodee.bsky.socialNirvana - Nevermind (1991)
Not their debut, but an album where they hit "mainstream". "Smells Like Teen Spirit" is a grunge anthem at this point. I was into Guns N' Roses during this period, but later gravitated towards Nirvana's sound of grunge.
@woodee.bsky.socialMegadeth - Rust In Peace (1990)
This classic album is 36 years old!! I was into the band around the Youthanasia era.
I was astounded when a friend at college showed me this album. The guitar solos and just the general speed of the first few songs sold me on it instantly!

@woodee.bsky.socialPrimal Scream - Screamdelica (1992)
A band I think I only knew from the album art and songs such as "Loaded" and "Come Together" from the distinctive samples used.
www.whosampled.com <-- Useful website for finding out where the samples originated.
@woodee.bsky.socialDream Theater - Falling Into Infinity (1997)
When the band tried to go more mainstream (I heard it was from record label pressure). Despite that they keep their roots and make the most of Derek Sherinian on the keys.
Classics such as Hell's Kitchen and Trial Of Tears.
