Day 12 - Perch

Zdravko wished to end the empire, which is not the same as a wish for the empire to end. Deprived of his vengeance, he needs to find new direction. Perched above the city, he considers.

A hrothgar peers down at the ruins of garlemald from his perch. He thinks: I return again and again. The ruination never brings the catharsis I need. There is no empire left to bleed. Garlemald is a bloodless corpse. Poor sport. Her people cower, and their blood runs as cold as their winters. I won't be coming back.

The hrothgar's attention shifts to the clear night sky. He thinks: I will need to seek purpose elsewhere. For so long, I defined myself in opposition to this place. These people. It feels cruel the empire should enjoy the same stars that shine over Bozja. Forgiveness is beyond me, but I can make peace. And I can go home.
