This Late Spider Orchid definitely deserves a place among my #favouriteplant of 2026. I captured this beauty during the fabulous #OrchidOfKent tour with @mariposanature.bsky.social earlier this year. What a memorable encounter! 💚

The signs of autumn are emerging, this common snowberry noticed in the hedgerow, a new favourite as I have never before seen the beautiful little pink flowers.
I absolutely love that nature is always surprising and is just truly, truly wonderful.
This pioneering Silver Birch tree has been growing on the roofline of the unused Brotherhood meeting house in Rugby town centre for a few years. #FavouritePlant @wildflowerhour.bsky.social Nature abhorrs a vacuum!
#FavouritePlant Bee orchid at Lakeside Country Park in May. One of my favourite plants generally and finding this one was one of my plant moments of the year, coming on my last after work walk before a week off where I was hoping to see one. A magical moment. #WildflowerHour

After much deliberation my #FavouritePlant for #WildFlowerHour - Green-winged Orchid (Anacamptis morio). These at Orcombe Point near Exmouth.
It may not be rare or unusual, but this spiny restharrow is such a delicate little beauty, and a #FavouritePlant from my #WildFlowerHour year
My pick for #FavouritePlant is rue-leaved saxifrage. It’s been scarce this year, likely due to the unusually wet autumn and winter. Spotted on the old pavement at The Holies, Streatley (W. Berks), 28/3/2026. #wildflowerhour
Spotting my first bee, butterfly and musk orchids was a highlight of my wild flower year #WildFlowerHour #FavouritePlant
For #Wildflowerhour #favouriteplant a bee orchid this is var belgarium (and was found near Winchester, belgarium being the Roman name for Winchester), so a local variety!
Surviving the hot summer to produce flowers and fruit at the same time. Small Nightshade living up to its scientific name Solanum triflorum with flowers and fruits in threes. Almost my #FavouritePlant but becoming common in #Suffolk #Brecks fields. #WildflowerHour
#FavouritePlant Sowbread (Cyclamen hederifolium) in bloom now, surrounded by Ground Elder leaves. Two plants that seem happy to grow together.

For the #wildflowerhour #favouriteplant challenge 2026, I'm probably going to choose this lovely patch of Coralroot #Orchids (Corallorhiza trifida) from the dunes of South Cumbria. They were absolutely magnificent 🥰
And another #FavouritePlant, from the village woods this Spring is the Wood Anemone, Anemone nemerosa, #WildflowerHour
My #favouriteplant moment of the year was definitely flying past these clouds of Oxeye Daisy and Red Valerian on my bike last May. Nothing rare or unusual, but just bright and bountiful and full of joy #wildflowerhour
