Good morning everyone! My family's about to head out to the local Renaissance Faire. My husband is going as a pirate🏴‍☠️ and I'm going as a fairy 🧚.

Before we head out, I'm currently reading this month's #DarkerTimes book: "Jackal" by Erin E. Adams. They recommend really good horror.

Good morning Lundy! I’m just starting a book called Shantaram - you’ll find out a little more about it in the #BlueBrewBooks list (follow the hashtag). Thank you for asking!

I hope you’re getting a great start to the day!

If it’s not too late, I am enjoying this short novel - a little quirky, whimsical.

A blue book with white lettering. The title is “Helen of Nowhere” by Mackenna Goodman. Behind it is a bunch of red, purple and white carnations.

I finished this on audiobook this week. What a crazy ride. The characters were all awful, and yet I felt for them. It was not the book I thought I was going to read (expected it to be more like Yellowface), but it was still very good. Dark, weird…but good.

Just beginning “Shantaram” by Gregory David Roberts, which I’ll be reading with my friend @jimmyinnes.bsky.social . We’ve been meaning to read this 900-page novel for ages, and are finally getting going today. What I do know (see ALT for more)

is that this story is loosely based on the real-life of its author. Apparently an escaped Australian convict, the character makes his way to Bombay. What is undoubted is the author’s deep love for that city and its people, both rich and poor. (Okay, I’ve peeked a bit…)

More to come next week!

Still reading last week’s book, see below, but want to recommend a book I read a couple years ago that is joyful, something mentioned by @sdcushing.bsky.social this morning. For #BlueBrewBooks and #Booksky

Photo of the book Grayson, by Lynne Cox. An enjoyable read of a swimmer’s encounter with a whale calf.

Good morning Susan and everyone at #bluebrewbooks! It's a dark and stormy day in my neck of the woods, so it's a perfect day for reading, enjoying snacks, making stew.

I recently started listening to James Clavelle's fifth book in The Asian Saga: Noble House. Each book in the series is amazing.

Enjoying this third title by Earl Swift. I started with his journey on the AT, then his year on Tangier and now traveling down the James River. I’ve kayaked the James from Jamestown down to the James River Bridge. Exploring and lollygaggin this muddy brown treasure.
