It seems like #bbcr4today is spending around 2-5 mins in every hour talking about that Spencer book/gossip/ancillary events.
Cant stress enough how much I dont want to listen to this tosh. 5 mins in every 60 = 8% of the programme. Does anyone there have any sense of proportion

@ianpatterson.comSep 18, 2026, 6:47 AM

An unseemly interview by #bbcr4today with a line that, roughly speaking, was 'surely you have to delve back into records to 2012 to tell women impacted' when, as the Hospital chap said, some patients and patient groups say 'its so long ago wish you hadn't told me'. The lust for scandal came thru.

@vicderbyshire.bsky.social interview with Rachel will stay with me. IMO #BBCNews @bbcnewsnight.bsky.social
#BBCr4today shd, in mission to be impartial(you can't be impartial if you present only a part of reality)speak to asylum seekers to understand their views.We're hearing only from UK residents.

Can't believe I'm hearing Justin Webb proposing 'performative' cuts to public spending

It's not for the BBC to suggest a new round of austerity

Nor for politicians to perform for markets

Their job is to make our lives better

The Babcyam thing coming from the Letby public enquiry is an interesting recommendation. Who pays? And how many lives will it actually save? Baby murder in hospitals is a vanishingly rare problem, but someone is spending a billion (or whatever) on it? Being unemotional, does it add up? #bbcr4today

Jonathan Reynolds on #BBCR4Today calling for people "not to be hyper-bollock" (mediated on 9am news bulletin as "highPERbelic") and, for one, welcoming our robot overlords...👇

A moving decision from the editors #BBCR4Today, to give a substantial segment to Alzheimers.

#BBCR4Today #JustinWebb gives us an insight into his inspirations - #Trump, #BobMonkhouse...Odd pairing but both clowns

Dear #bbcr4today you've mentioned the Royal-Who-Resigned 4 times I think now in 40 mins over his school arrangements. Please - stop it. Hes not a working royal, this is pure gossip. Leave it to Hello.

@ianpatterson.comSep 14, 2026, 7:28 AM

#bbcr4today is covering the new food standards in schools that ban deep fried stuff. Im amazed the story is not run as 'Govt seeks to ban fish n chips in schools', since thats the implication. More seriously, I'm hoping there is an exception for fish n chips as an occasional school meal. ...

Tice is seemingly unaware of the impending UK regualtions which, I seem to understand, enable stablecoins and the like - the better sorts of crypto. #bbcr4today

@ianpatterson.comSep 14, 2026, 6:57 AM

Tice is emphatic these donors haev 'complied with the law' but is equally emphatic he doesnt know their details. Residence was an obvious media topic #bbcr4today yet he has chosen to, it seems, not be briefed on the subject. Who then advised Reform these donations were legal: which lawyer? ...

@ianpatterson.comSep 14, 2026, 6:20 AM

Assuming the govt's political donations bill becomes law (its introduced into parliament today) it'll be retrospective to 26th March, when the report on the subject was published. So says the chap who wrote the report on #bbcr4today That may make all of the £72m illegal - since neither of the ...

@ianpatterson.comSep 14, 2026, 6:09 AM

I dont know whether its the report itself or just #bbcr4today 's reporting of it, but the coverage of 'AI regulation in UK is fragmented' etc is just insanely negative. Its a new field - so its hardly surprising. Don't make it out that its some damning failure of govt accumulated over decades.

@chrrobl.bsky.socialSep 14, 2026, 5:57 AM

#bbcr4today The 6.20 bizness slot, going forward, had high-ups discussing banks & investment stuff, just after a piece mentioning free school dinners. Without (as always) a single word on climate. One year very soon there'll be nowt to eat. People not far south already have no water. Going forward.

The clarification in relation to Ben Delo’s US conviction that Justin Webb had to make just before end #BBCr4today rather vindicates my contention that what appeared to be unwarranted timidity in *BBC journalists’* reporting on the donation, is unwise. BBC shd take responsibility for its reporting.

@lauraphillips.bsky.socialSep 12, 2026, 9:36 AM

#BBCr4today extremely disappointing that as far as I heard it took until 7.39am until polling guru+Prof of politics John Curtice mentioned the conviction+ #Trump’s pardon of #Reform’s £36m donor Ben Delo. No mention in (edited) news report by BBC’s Ben Wright, by Justin Webb or by Jack Fenwick.

@britishpictures.bsky.socialSep 12, 2026, 6:37 AM

Is #BBCR4today really going to discuss Ben Delo and his £35 million donation to Reform without mentioning his criminal conviction?

@ianpatterson.comSep 11, 2026, 6:13 AM

Amazing that #bbcr4today isnt picking up on the common theme to two Anthropin/AI stories today - alarm bells should be sounding. First, the stories. News broke that a model had solved the Navier Stokes equations, a Millenial maths problem. Around that news is a kerfufle over whether the model ...

@ianpatterson.comSep 11, 2026, 6:03 AM

Two stories today reflect badly (again) on the Tories. They claimed whilst in office to be controlling govt expenditure. Well, both the NATS air traffic issues and the NAO National Grid expansion stories today are directly from underinvestment during the Tory years.
#bbcr4today ...
