#allotment harvest 3rd October 🌱

Raspberries tailed off, but Toms say "no way!". Cabbage, Spring Onion, Thyme, Coriander, Dill, Basil, Radish, Lettuce, Peppers, last of Courgette, Beans, Apples, Pears and a carrot (just one for now).

Carrots will definitely be a part of tonight’s dinner! 🥕 #Allotment

I've decided to get some new garlic for next year's harvest because this year wasn't great. I've gone for Eden Rose and Messidrome. I'm planting the massive elephant garlic I grew this year. Going to put some shallot and onion sets in too.

A time for reflection maybe, as the #allotment crops visibly recede. A few green beans still, raspberries preparing for dormancy. Brassica beds full, cover crops thriving and a lot of harvesting 🌱 yet to do.

Making fotos is our way of comparing progress year on year.

The Germander has now been cut back in order to allow it to put on some growth and provide a low evergreen hedge for the winter. You can do the same now or leave it until the spring 🌱🇬🇧 #herbs #flowers #allotment #horticulture

I’m guilty of picking and eating raw asparagus straight from my #allotment. I just love the crunch.

First load of free compost 🌱 delivered to #allotment. 400kgs. Home for a coffee and then load up again.

Having another lovely, sunny morning at the allotment. Re done a path; the satisfaction of gathering and disposing of the roots of couch grass, horsetail and bindweed 🥳. Another job ticked off (love a list!)

A massive more-money-than-sense plonker just parked his brute of a Ford SUV, black of course, just below my flat, walked 40 yards to buy a take-away drink, returned, switched engine on while drinking his highly priced beverage & fiddled with his phone for 10 mins.

Off to #allotment joy & sanity 😊

Such an amazing day today! Started damp, spits and spots of rain on a warm breeze. Even in just a T-shirt it was a pleasure..

.. then the Sun broke out! Warm (for us, at 24ºC) and imagine - in a few hours it will be October.

Thoroughly enjoyed the time on the #allotment. Mentally restored 😘🌱 👋

Another net of #allotment Onions 🌱 safely squirrelled away, in a metal squirrel proof shed.

Two more to go I think.

Did you know that stored onions repel Mice?

Surprising that all of our #allotment are quite full still at this time of year. A bit top heavy on the Brassicas 🌱 maybe, but a good cabbage soup never killed anyone 🙄

Parsnips with a bed of Caulis and young cabbage behind that and a bed of Brussels and young Caulis behind that. Fruit trees full!

Just spent a sunny 3 hours at the allotment. List of jobs done - put a small path on the top bed to make access easier. Covered the empty half-don't want to weed it again this year! Tidied my shed, tho' didn't find the saw I was looking for 🤔. Music =🐰🍎😎 obv!
