The only long-form story I've finished is Prophecies. I love that story and I still make revisions when I think of them, and it's always fun to revisit it. Still, it feels good to let it be complete (if not perfect) while I work on other stories.

I love putting the raw character concepts on the page and seeing how they act, then seeing how that pushes me to develop them, and how their actions teach me what the plot will be. It's always exciting and so much fun.

All my current WIPs start with the plot's inciting event. In Prophecies, it's the MCs having to talk to each other (amid danger!). In StS, it's Drohim learning his husband is missing. In CoJ, it's Paul joining the team. No long intros or in media res for me.

I can craft beginnings when I get a fun idea, but I can only craft endings by writing the rest of the story (seriously - it usually takes me until at least halfway through to know how it will end). It's like eating a piece of candy vs. a full dinner.
Currently I'm writing a sort of classical fantasy that takes place in a world of islands in the sky and having fun with it. Also been reading a lot of indie fantasy like True Skies and Sarah Chorn and Iolanda Santos.
Sometimes. I miss the characters more, I think, they stay with me long after I'm done with the story. My Borun-Ma series felt like something of a relief finishing it (4 years drafting 16 books) but I missed the world so much I wrote several spin-offs...
The thought that there's a world of possibilities at the tip of my fingers - anything can happen! The adventure of it, the fact I don't know, the magic of letting that story weave itself while I 'get to watch it' unfold from a privileged seat.
I don't. Honestly, I don't, it's the story that tells me - and I know how absurd this sounds, but this is really how it happens with me, the start to the story is always there, the rest comes after organically. It chooses itself.
I definitely prefer crafting beginnings a lot more than the endings because starting a story always feels magical, to me. There's always this excitement at the pit of my stomach and the tip of my fingers whenever I start writing the first chapter.
hey #TBBChat I'm Ruth Miranda, author of multi-genre queer fiction. I'm character driven and these characters are always rather conflicted and conflicting. Bad things tend to happen or have happened to them and mental health is a strong theme in all my books.

THE CONTRACT prequel serial debuts September 8 on Vocal Media. Watch this space: vocal.media/authors/jaye...
And if you haven't read TOGETHER EXCLUSIVE OFFICIAL, a spicy BWWM romance featuring Tasha + Tucker, it's on Kindle Unlimited & also available in DRM-free ebook & print.
#TBBChat Q4
I totally do, which is why I like writing short post-HEA stories.
It’s also why I’m working on my current WIPs. I absolutely loved working on Tasha & Tucker’s main love story. They’re fun — basically a loudmouth + an eccentric. I felt like there was more story to explore with them.
Introducing a character is important, but I often plan a dramatic ending first, then the beginning, and then see how the characters get from A to B. #TBBChat #BookBazaar26 #Writing #Writesky
#TBBChat Q3
I love new stories bc it’s like meeting new folks, or revisiting old faves.
The serial & the Christmas story are (mostly) the latter. THE CONTRACT is about marriage #1 for Tucker, the divorced hero of TOGETHER EXCLUSIVE OFFICIAL. The holiday novella is Tucker & Tasha’s post-HEA story.
#TBBChat Q2
It depends on the story. Especially with my romances, I try to start the story shortly before the inciting incident. I want to give enough backstory to show the MCs’ normal, then show when the big thing happens — in my romances it’s typically the meet cute (or the occasional meet ugly).
#TBBChat Q1
Endings for sure. I often have the destination in mind, and then I write the story, the way my characters get there.
