This sounds so basic, but it helps if these people basically like (love is preferable) my work & my #genre. #kidlitchat

See, now I'm wishing I had a PopTart dammit. #kidlitchat
You do. #kidlitchat
Haha although winning lottery numbers will def help. #kidlitchat
Good point. #kidlitchat
I guess my husband is my creative partner, and I want him to just write the stories coz I don't want to write them myself 😅
I tried doing a crit group but it fizzled. Finding the right mix is really difficult especially when considering all the things: trust and skill while trying to find partner's with similar interests. #kidlitchat
What I want from a Creative partner def validation, support, honesty, guidance. I think a bit of challenge helps you to reach for the next level. Not be complacent. #kidlitchat
And at the risk of sounding needy . . . I need validation. Truly. That what I'm doing is worthwhile, or that I'm on the right track, or even that I'm mature enough in my craft to take criticism. I mean, sometimes you have to hear it. Out loud. #kidlitchat
I think even terrible feedback can trigger a creative spark, and even a baffling take will make me consider, “how could this person misunderstand the thing this badly and what can I do to help them over the finish line without compromising the book for others?” #kidlitchat
When shaping a project, I value creative partners offering perspectives and honest insights for the purpose of strengthening the story. I’ve been a part of many critique group meetings where our discussions lead to new discoveries and ways of telling the story, and it feels magical!
The best creative partners are those who inspire you to be the best version of yourself & bring out the strongest version of your own voice. For me, that means someone I can trust to give honest feedback (no sugar-coating) without trying to change *my* narrative to fit *their* voice. #KidLitChat
Well, you certainly don't want someone who tells you how THEY would do it. But that happens. #kidlitchat
When I write critiques in workshops or classes, I usually write a question. #kidlitchat
