This little fledgling Green-tailed Towhee.

A small fledgling green-tailed towhee perches on the flat top of a weathered, gray tree stump. The young bird has a soft, fluffy appearance with muted brown and gray plumage, a pale, slightly streaked chest, and a short, dark beak. Its head is rounded and brownish, with a dark eye looking slightly to the right. A hint of bright green tail feathers is visible behind its body. The background is smooth and blurred in warm tan tones, with a few out-of-focus green leaves, making the bird stand out clearly in the center of the image.

Everyone loves a Long-tailed Tit and I like this composition among the soft leaves and berries of hawthorn in autumn. Its long tail is hidden behind its body so it just looks like a round ball.

A Grey Heron sitting on a riverbank. The bird is left of centre of frame, looking right so that its right side is visible. It hand along, sharp, orange beak, darker on top near the head. I had a white head with a large, dark stripe across the eye, ending is a crest at the back of the head. Its neck is tucked into its body and is a greyish white. Its back and wings are a light grey, with a darker grey at the edges of the wings. Its legs and tail are obscured by a mound of exposed riverbed in the foreground. The background is of the river, which has a brown tinge but is clear enough to see a sandy bottom near the bird, darker elsewhere. A Dunnock taken in close up. The bird is facing the camera directly and takes up almost the entire height of the shot, the small wooden post it is perched on can just be seen at the bottom of the picture. It has a grey head and neck with brown cheek patches. Its sides are brown with black streaks and its chest is grey, turning to white underneath. It is facing the camera directly, so that both eyes can been seen and it has its feathers puffed out to give it a very round appearance. The background is an out of focus white, with a dark stripe in the upper left hand corner
