One of the staircases in the City Chambers in Glasgow. Designed by William Young and built in the 1880s, its internal decorations have to be seen to be believed. Luckily, they run regular tours so you can take a peek inside.

250 Saint Vincent Street in Glasgow. Designed in a Classical style by James Thomson, it was built in 1882. It started life as Maclean's Hotel, before becoming the Windsor Hotel in 1890.

I love all the details on the tower of Alexander 'Greek' Thomson's magnificent 1850s St Vincent Street Church in central Glasgow, especially the caryatids (pillars carved into female figures) just below the clock.

The Mitchell Library in Glasgow in looking magnificent against today's blue skies. Designed by William B. Whitie in an Edwardian Baroque style and opened in 1911, it's one of the largest public reference libraries in Europe.
