Good morning, #Septopolis.

Let's talk some places to house and display culture. This can also include opera houses, music halls, and festival grounds too! What do they look like? Where are they in the place (rich/poor area)?

And what's the most important thing they're showing off, and why is it?

A particular utility that the Celestial Temple offers is fire. Every temple has always maintained a fire that the community is free to light from.

Even the ones that have to do so manually, rather than miraculously.

Though Safe Harbor has enough miracle workers to make house-calls.

Pro sports are a big part of modern life on Tenalus, and many different sports are played around the world.

In the 4xx sectors, the most popular sports (in rough order of most to least supporters) are:

Rugby
Baseball
Basketball
Football (soccer)
Cricket
Lacrosse
Ice Hockey

Knightly Tournaments are THE sporting event in Terre Reine. Less so in Safe Harbor specifically.

But a local passion for hand-ball games could set up for fun in Book 3. I could see the Temple reinforcing their walls rather than discourage wall-ball as the church did in our Europe.

Gambling is huge in Belaqua. What kind of games, I haven't decided yet, I'm going to explore that more through the eyes of the characters.

The local families would have some sort of sportsball game that they break out on festival days... again, haven't decided anything about this yet.

Today Eloy has pickleball and I bet the alt-future does, too.

No local pro sports teams, but the Rochesters’ daughter, Ember, loves robot combat (think #BattleBots), so alt-future Eloy has arenas for probably up to the 30-pound weight class and holds big competitions... #Septopolis #HistorytownAZ

The City of Gates has some of the best deep-sea fishing in the entire world, and there are usually several tournaments a year with different focuses and prizes.

Some of the locals pride themselves on being the best fishers in the region and like to show off a bit. 🧵

Two or more folks, in the dead firepit in the middle of a tavern, slugging it out, akin to Victorian-style boxing. The winner is the last one standing. No weapons, except on special fight nights.

Now this is something I haven't given much thought about at all! But I would like to, as games further typify what kind of a village something like Moondale could potentially be!

Day 21 of #Septopolis!

An easy question today, as I've scattered its answers amongst the previous days of this month.

For Moondale, it's obviously crafts (marble & limestone) and farming, followed by hunting game and beer brewing.

There's a lot of sport in the Underworld actually, but mostly there is GAMBLING.

The most common game of chance is the ancient game of Patolli, using 5 beans dotted on one side as dice.

But, there is also Poktapok (ring ball), and Ocelot Races.
