An object must be used correctly for a purpose it was never designed for

His exact words:
Well, aren’t you a handy gadget?

He has no clue,
none whatsoever.

Am I an Allen wrench,
nose tip pliers,

or worse,
a 3-in-1 utility knife

that opens cans,
unscrews corks

and a blade so sharp
it can scale ish

or someone like him.

Go on, I say,
tempt me.

Fun poetry to get out of my head. Out of my writer's funk. Asked a friend for 5 words. Whatever came to mind. Here's the 5 - Meat. Floor. Cat. Tv. Hair

Velvet, black and gold,
Striped watcher, silent prowess -
Eyes burn, through the trees

A white trail—
undulating
at the crack of dawn.
Scattering on the heaps of snow
is the amber glow
against the web
of bare branches
obscuring the navy sky.

Mystical is this morning
a sight to behold
Mystical is this village
the secret it holds.

Its beauty is a lure
like a Venus flytrap
the goddess of beauty
presenting a snare.
Beckoning you
to be the feast

Grazing empty air,
Cheek to cheek, without a touch -
Distance, kept polite.

                               unmerry twinkling
the sky is full of stares
                                            we’re judged
                                                   found guilty

	*

                                 dawn is caught red-handed
                                    as she tries to sneak
                                                 into the day
                                                      over the eastern hills

	*

          Sisyphus rolls
a glowing ball of dung
towards the zenith of the azure bowl
                                   pretending not to know
                                              what happens next

	*

                                              what happens next
                                                             the long descent
                                                                        and nothing he can do
                                                    to hold it back
                                 to stop it trundling
                        to night’s long vale

	*

                               the still air slowly darkens
                         shimmering with song
a myriad melodies antiphonal at best
                                                                    unharmonised
