Turnbull: Are you aware that the motion isn't a debate about AI?
Hueck: I am. I believe it's a chance to hear both sides, the concerns & the opportunities . #yqrcc

Turnbull: Are you aware that the motion isn't a debate about AI?
Hueck: I am. I believe it's a chance to hear both sides, the concerns & the opportunities . #yqrcc
We are so fucked. #yqrcc
Hueck: There have to be economies of scale when you deploying that technology. But I look at the university of Regina & the petroleum research centre that's a world leader in CO2 capture. #yqrcc
Now up, Erwin Heuck, engineer. States he’s here to clear up some myth-busting regarding Data Centres and how important the Bell AI Data Centre opportunity will bring to our city. Fuest off, I need to clear something up. A conventional data centre and an AI data centre aren't the same thing. #yqrcc
Hueck: I'm not familiar in fuel cells. I know the federal government is looking at carbon capture. We have a market for CO2 in this province. I would see a technology like CO2 capture addressing some concerns around emissions. #yqrcc
Mancinelli: I note you expertise in energy, this is an opportunity that wasn't around 20yrs ago. This is a future technology. We're supplying power w/ turbines. But I'm interested in renewable. How feasible is this to look for w/ a facility like this? #yqrcc
Hueck: If industrial growth is driving the use, the cost recovery should come from that use. That's the philosophy. This is where Bring Your Own Power addresses those concerns. #yqrcc
Hueck: Industrial is a rate class. The idea that residents would pay more b/c of industrial demand should be closed off by the rate review process. So I think there's some mythbusting there. #yqrcc
Rashovich: I'd heard from some delegates, oh, our electricity costs are going up. When Bell gets the 300MW, do they pay more?
Hueck: I've been exposed to rate making. I don't speak on behalf of the utility. But they have rate classes w/ cost recovery for them. #yqrcc
Hueck is reading his submission to council. Here it is. #yqrcc
Heuck: It was out of that understanding of the opportunity here around energy of abundant low cost energy in form or natural gas & renewables which started me down path as proponent of data centres. #yqrcc
Up next it's Erwin Heuck, an engineer, representing himself. He says he's a proponent of data centre & an energy subject matter expert. Worked with gas utility & worked on islanded microgrids which he calls the solution for data centre. #yqrcc
Taya Triffo from No Data Centres On Treaty Land (NDCOTL) is talking about concerns about the data centre expanding. #yqrcc
Turnbull also pointed out that the delegation is valued for showing up. Which, like, that she had to point that out is kind of telling about what I've missed. #yqrcc
Turnbull made a point of how delegations are "not supposed to be experts on every thing" and that the reason this motion is here is BECAUSE nobody knows everything about this data centre project.
This makes me think I've missed some STUFF earlier in this meeting. #yqrcc
Okay… I HATE walking into a council meeting that's "in progress".
Clr Turnbull is asking Qs of the 2 reps from "No Data Centre On Indigenous Land". #yqrcc
You can question a resident without putting them in the prosecution box. They came into council's house to share an opinion. They deserve respect, whether or not you agree. It was disappointing to watch. #yqrcc
3/ Speaking at council takes real courage. The delegate, Hackie, was met with a stream of "do you know about this?" and "do you know about that?" from Councillors Turnbull and Mancinelli. It felt like a gotcha, not a conversation. #yqrcc
2/ In the past. City Councillors have complained before that residents don't come out to speak to council, and that it can feel intimidating. So what happens when they do? #yqrcc
