Tobie from Darwin's Cliff wears a metaphorical mask, for part of the story anyway. She doesn't come out as gay to anyone but her gran until she leaves her hometown to go to university, even though she's pretty sure her friends wouldn't feel any different about her if they knew.

In terms of superhero costumes, Kirishima wears no mask so as to better see his friendly face. Bakugou... used to but w/ his hero days long behind him he no longer does

In DEAD BEATS, Seymour absolutely wears a metaphorical mask. The trouble is that he doesn’t know when the reckless, devil-may-care, impulsive, would-be Beatnik act really is just an act, or when he’s sincerely off the rails.

Mari, the bisexual model from A Work of Art (out in Nov), wears a metaphorical mask. Though she is often naked in the story, she defends herself with emotional distance from others and shallow relationships. Though she gives gregarious extrovert, true close friends are rare.

In BLUDEYE BEACH, Edie very much wears her heart on her sleeve. Even when she's trying to keep secrets, it's very stressful for her. Plenty of people around her have some degree of a mask or other, for various reasons...

To humans he does. He has the ability to shift from his Dylogar form to a human one. A metaphorical mask is that he comes off as tough, commanding, and ruthless when he runs the magical underworld but his true self is really soft, caring, and introverted.

Marcus would say he doesn't: he's genuinely friendly and interested, so he loves meeting people and talking to them as much as performing. Yet he never reveals any sadder feelings because he doesn't want to worry or inconvenience others, so while he doesn't realise it, he does mask.

Alexander does wear a domino mask as part of hijinx in 1660 😂

But one of the main themes of this whole thing is that no, Alexander doesn't. He's stealth, but the elaborate male presentation, layers of flamboyant costuming, are not a disguise. The ""mask"" shows the truth.
