Magic is limited. There are many ways one can do magic, but the method the dragons use requires you to be born with it.
There are methods that don't require natural talent, but the ordinary, mundane animals on Zada (my planet) don't know how to do it. Humans did, back in the day.

Cell phones common in my story, texting and even FaceTime mentioned. The boys are a metal band and the level of tech that they just carry around in cases is astonishing. Tech absolutely everywhere in my story, but not the dream realm, clear distinction between tech and dreams.

Well, the reverse is also true! In my story, the dragons use magic to cover gaps in technology.
For instance, they make a flight simulator with illusion magic.
@jakevanguard.bsky.socialIn OMEN, I'd say generally yes. There's certain luxuries only the rich and powerful can access - just like in our world - but most technology is available to the "common folk"
How well it's made and new depends on the size of their accounts though...

I don’t know the correct term for “close to our universe” but my world is modern society, technology runs on electricity and science and stuff.
@jakevanguard.bsky.socialIn OMEN, technology is basically evolved from "our" technology. More advanced, very cyberpunk-ish including partially lab-grown produce. In the past, magic was also used to infuse technology but it's no longer practiced (at least in Neo Requiem)
@zbroger.bsky.social#tbbchat a1- since i write realistic fiction, it works basically the same as real life. the only difference is my main story takes place in 2005 so most stories i write use outdated technology. i only have 1 set of characters (same world) that have their unwritten story set in the modern age of '26
