#LGBTQWriteAThon:

Evadne is publicly known as a reality star/effectively an influencer, and seems to be someone that greatly benefits from the inequality of their system. Privately, she's from a very poor family that she is trying to take care of and wants to see this whole structure torn apart.

There are a few times where my pirate girls get up to shenanigans in disguise. But the biggest metaphorical mask is Kallista having to put on the swagger and play the part of the Pirate Queen.

Bethany wears a metaphorical mask of self-denial; denying that she's "abnormal" (autistic & bisexual) in a judgy, 1920s era small town that sees her as an outcast/misfit.

I'd say to a degree Hailey does. She puts on a very sunny, positive face but deep down she's hurting a lot and dealing with some badly internalized thoughts about herself.

Helena wears a literal mask. A carnival mask that hides her face.

Tobie from Darwin's Cliff wears a metaphorical mask, for part of the story anyway. She doesn't come out as gay to anyone but her gran until she leaves her hometown to go to university, even though she's pretty sure her friends wouldn't feel any different about her if they knew.

#LGBTQWriteAThon October 7:

Avari literally wears a mask, black domino Incredibles style, baby. NO CAPES!

Metaphorically, he wears a mask of normalcy to blend in, since he's not exactly human. He's also very ND but doesn't mask that AT ALL other than trying not to stim in some situations

#LGBTQWriteAThon 7: masks

Krainos: not with Xenon, but smiles and nods with his conservative customer.

Xenon: Doesn't wear a mask so much as misdirects (positive?).

Neven: I don't think so, just too in his head sometimes.

Leona: No mask, no filter. 🤣 But those loose lips might cause trouble… 👀

Nate wears the "I'm fine" mask when he's dying inside and he's in an abyss of pain and grief.

#LGBTQWriteAThon Metaphorically, Kirishima is interesting bc his mask only develops post-BKs "death" and grows ever bigger after his return. A mask which hides deeply held secrets from his best friends and his girlfriend until its forcibly ripped off, exposing the raw truth for all to see

#LGBTQWriteAThon 6 - an easy one for me to answer given I'm infiltrating this writeathon with my My Hero Academia fanfic 😂

In terms of superhero costumes, Kirishima wears no mask so as to better see his friendly face. Bakugou... used to but w/ his hero days long behind him he no longer does

Iberto does not wear a mask, either real of metaphorical.

He was inclined to wear a metaphorical mask before becoming his goddess' avatar, but now what you see is what you get.

In DEAD BEATS, Seymour absolutely wears a metaphorical mask. The trouble is that he doesn’t know when the reckless, devil-may-care, impulsive, would-be Beatnik act really is just an act, or when he’s sincerely off the rails.

Jacqueline in wip2 definitely does. She often needs to switch between several masks, mostly professional with fans/journalists/other musicians/record company and private with friends/family/LI

#LGBTQWriteAThon Masks?

Mari, the bisexual model from A Work of Art (out in Nov), wears a metaphorical mask. Though she is often naked in the story, she defends herself with emotional distance from others and shallow relationships. Though she gives gregarious extrovert, true close friends are rare.

Happy #LGBTQWriteAThon 7!

In BLUDEYE BEACH, Edie very much wears her heart on her sleeve. Even when she's trying to keep secrets, it's very stressful for her. Plenty of people around her have some degree of a mask or other, for various reasons...
