#SeptemberWorldbuilders I kind of went into this previously (see link), but the six inhabited Days have associated colors used in their livery (boat sails, etc.), and LastDay is associated with white and black, & officials wear black, healers/midwives/caretakers wear white:

Well, this is kind of a big spoiler, because this part hasn't happened in the book yet, but Sandrine will find herself in quite a literal darkness at one point, from which she will never properly recover, but she'll find a way to live with it.

Digital art of my OC Sandrine in a cartoony style. She is a young transgender woman. She has large, turqoise fairy wings, a short pixie cut, light skin, a green tank top showing her belly, and a short skirt, black shorts sticking out from underneath. Her right hand is missing and is replaced by a glowing, magical fist. On her left hand there's a ring shaped like a sun. She is standing in a forest, light coming from behind her. Her pale, green eyes are reflecting stars.

#SeptemberWorldbuilders Light is hugely important to the Golden Dusk world. The world is divided into areas that have the usual day-night cycles and areas shrouded in so much magic that it literally causes the air to look darker, like it’s dusk even at high noon.

23: As with all things symbolism in Karnassia (co-created with @jmaxwell-author.bsky.social), there is some cultural variation on this, but one of the most clear cut is the Atmoral symbolism for the Sun. The sun plays a central role in the culture of the Atmorals, as Atmor...

Terra Nova is the man-made satellite of Lycaon that shares the same orbit. As such, it's in the planet's shadow.

The only way it's lit is through tech, further reflecting it as sterile, cold, and man-made.

Light and Darkness are literally alchemical Principles, encompassing all kinds of sub-principles, like energy or warmth, but not morals.
There's nothing inherently "good" about the Light principle.

In Resist, light and white are used to symbolize control, assimilation, and compliance. As Ivory City frees itself from tyranny, it loses its prestine, light coloration to a blend of styles and color.

In Shadow Cursed, light is connected to natural magic.

Especially in Balances, light is tied to truth, which can be harsh and painful.

This comes back in The Sword of Heaven, when dim, diffuse light is used for concealment.

Good morning, #SeptemberWorldbuilders! Hope you're having a lovely day. I am starting to feel healed after spending some time offline, so I hope to see you soon! Today's Q: How is LIGHT used symbolically in your setting?

The background image shows a pink moon on the horizon of a sandy beach. There's a single mountain in the background. The image gives off vibes of peace and serenity and a little bit of magic

#SeptemberWorldbuilders My MC lost his lover, his left arm, and the war, all in the same battle. (I've tortured MCs before, but never like this.)
What gave him a reason to live was writing a musical composition based on the stanzas of music his lover used to whistle.

#TheDragonblood: Aimetor might be feeling lost, trying to figure out what Sabrina expects of them, and why she's saddled them with this Soulless one, and why said Soulless one seems so strange compared to what they expected the Soulless to be like.

Metaphorically, all her life. I do take this very literally when she dies (more than once). I don't use death as the same kind of drama most writers do, so death not being a finality is fine with me.

A mortal human and a normal ghost sees, hears and feels almost...

Hell yeah. Her lowest point in the book is a bit unusual because there is some hope, but she's suffered so much by that point that it doesn't feel real. But then the sun comes up as usual the next day and she gets some sleep and a good cry, which help

Oh, for sure. All of my protagonists have had their rough patches, though with some of them I'll have to be more sparse on details than others. For spoiler reasons, of course.

This is definitely Kai after the betrayal of the Big Bad in Conquering Shadows.

Following Maple’s injury, Kai begins to doubt himself, blaming his actions for what happened. It’s not until Maple & Orelia console him that he pulls himself back up.

#SeptemberWorldbuilders When Caleb first escaped from Alan, the main reason he wasn’t immediately recaptured was that he fled during a snowstorm, and no one could distinguish his white scales from the snow. Unfortunately, he ALSO got lost in the snow and nearly froze to death!

In my current wip (The Wild Family), Bethany grew up believing her relatives were her bio family & that her birth mom is her favorite aunt. As a fairy tale fixated child, she was hurt when she learned the truth 🧵1/?

Renard spent much of my first book in such a state. The combination of imposter syndrome and inferiority complex isn't a fun one!

He thought he was unworthy, unlovable, and unqualified to be a leader.

His friends pulled him out of it. His ride or die squad.
