Roger Corman’s first Poe adaptation is a feast for the eyes! The rich, vibrant colours are incredible. The crumbling settings, creepy fog, and lavish costumes create the ultimate haunted house vibe. Plus, blonde Vincent Price is such a vibe.

50/100 Mandy (2018)
Features a slow burn psychedelic revenge.

I get it, like it's a really pretty movie and the violence in the last 45 minutes is stunning. But the surreal nature and the glacial pacing made this a hard watch for my personal tastes.

49/100 The Fall of the House of Usher by Edgar Allen Poe (short story, 1839)
Features: a decaying house and the decaying siblings inside it

I love the over the top dramatic way that Poe describes terror and fear. I was there for the drama of this one and enjoyed reading a classic!

Pumpkinhead (1988) 🎬

Stan Winston's directorial debut absolutely delivers! It plays out like a dark, twisted fairytale with an incredible atmosphere that completely sucks you in.
And the creature? Amazing. Like the love child of a Xenomorph and the Wishmaster!
