Today is #orangeshirtday in honor stolen children, some who never made it home.
Genocide is unfortunately not something new to human history. Its legacy still impact Native communities to this day. Every Native you know or meet has a story of themselves or an ancestor.
My grandmother was a survivor.

Image in honor of orange shirt day with an orange hand print reading every child matters placed on a light orange background with small orange feathers.
Image text reads:
On September 30, Orange Shirt Day promotes awareness about the Indian Residential School system still impacting native American communities in the United States and Canada. Known as National Day of Truth and Reconciliation. The day honors the children forced into Indian Boarding Schools. In addition, the day also remembers those who never returned home.
