Okay, I'm temporarily back to my past-life career since I was summoned for some urgent translations (of a past life). Now I feel like I'm in The Mummy. I'm turning on the lights while I'm reading out loud, just in case.

The linguist in me loves this: This junction box in Lommel in Flanders is emblazoned with a phrase in the local dialect with a translation into regular Flemish. It says, "Grudgingly done is still done." #Linguistics #Lommel #BelgianPublicArt

We have a good baseline for the Sun Elven language to create a writing system. Now, we're going to work on Twilight Elven, a koine of early Dawn and Dusk varieties. #conlang #language #linguistics #dnd #ttrpg youtube.com/live/7A9Ky6U...

Are Mi'kmaw hieroglyphs one of the earliest Indigenous writing systems or just a memory aid?

Both the use and origin of these glyphs is uncertain but what is certain is they look nothing like European writing systems.
