For #PalacesAndGardens and #WhatsNext
Maybe some animal themes or motifs, that do not duplicate Bird of the Day or Fly Day.

For #PalacesAndGardens #WhatsNext. Another October idea: dungeons. Here's the spooky cells at the Old Exchange and Provost Dungeon in Charleston, South Carolina, where political prisoners were held (2024). #SouthCarolina #Charleston #PhotographersOfBlueSky #photography#EastCoastKin #ECK #WCK

This photograph shows the interior of the Old Exchange and Provost Dungeon in Charleston, South Carolina. The central focus is a heavy, double-paneled wooden door set into a low, arched brick entryway. One side of the door is pulled open, revealing a darker space beyond.

For #PalacesAndGardens #WhatsNext. Since many historic places have ghost stories: haunted. Great for October! Here's the ruins of St. Andrews Cathedral in Scotland (1991). #photography #scotlandphotography #Scotland #StAndrews #travel #travelphotography #Fog #church #ruins #EastCoastKin #ECK #WCK

This photo shows the stone ruins of St. Andrews Cathedral rising behind a historic graveyard on a misty, overcast day. A tall, weathered stone tower structure stands partially ruined, featuring open, arched window frames through which the grey sky is visible.

Copper roof gone green with age, a spire thin as a needle, and a ridge of hills parked right behind it. The tower pokes up out of the garden like it's checking whether anyone's coming.

#PalacesAndGardens #WhatsNext #photography #travelphotography

A multi-storey temple tower with a green copper roof and a tall slender spire rises in the middle distance, framed by a pine and leafy trees on either side and a dense glossy hedge along the bottom. A grey tiled temple roof, a few city buildings and a line of forested hills sit behind it under a blue sky with thin clouds.

Queen Sabine @sabineshutterbug.bsky.social and AnnaLois @annalois36.bsky.social from #PalacesAndGardens #WhatsNext have asked for ideas. Maybe some sculptures so as this little lady that almost looks as a mermaid in the garden in #Avifauna #ECK.

From top left, clockwise: a favourite picture of my lovely wife, smiling on a white semi-circular white wooden bench with her beloved smooth fox terrier besife her in the rose garden at Emmetts NT gardens, in Kent, where all these pictures were taken. Roses are blooming behind the seat.
The other pictures here were taken only on Tuesday; a general
view of the garden with its central ornamental pond and fountain, featuring a winged statue of a cherub that spouts water from a vase into the lily-filled waters below; two pink frilly roses with a white bench in the background; a climbing rose on a pergola that runs along a walkway at the top of the garden. The rose is Cécile Brünner and we bought a plant for our own garden after seeing it at Emmetts.

Morning #BlueSky ☕️ Welcome to the gorgeous Killashee Hotel in Naas, County Kildare, Ireland. Could grand hotels be a theme? 🤔 Have a grand day friends 😌 #ECK #Photography

#GrandHotels #Architecture

Our photograph shows the impressive Killashee Hotel in Naas, County Kildare, Ireland, viewed from its landscaped front courtyard on a bright, clear day.

The historic Victorian building has an ornate, symmetrical appearance, with warm olive-green rendered walls contrasting with cream-coloured stone detailing around the windows, corners and architectural features.

On the left is a tall, prominent bell tower, topped by a distinctive curved, dark slate roof and a small weather vane.

Beneath the roof are two large arched openings containing the bells.

Across the main façade are numerous tall windows, many framed with elaborate decorative stonework.

Several upper sections feature ornate, curved gables, decorative finials and intricate white detailing, giving the building a grand Victorian character.

The dark blue-grey slate roof stretches across the building, with several chimneys rising above it.

At the centre-right is the main entrance, set beneath an elaborate arched porch with decorative stonework and a curved gable above the doorway.

The entrance is approached across a broad, gravelled courtyard.

In the foreground, a rectangular raised flower bed contains neatly trimmed shrubs and winter plants.

Geometric strips of dark and pale paving cross the courtyard, creating strong lines leading towards the hotel. Carefully maintained hedges and lawns frame the edges.

Above the building is a vivid, almost cloudless deep-blue sky, providing a striking backdrop to the ornate architecture.

The photograph captures Killashee Hotel as a grand and elegant historic Irish country house, combining Victorian architecture with beautifully maintained grounds.

Finally, our picture today is finished with a simple white border frame.

Doors with a knocker of the Palazzo die Priori in Viterbo, Italy. The palace was built in the 15th century (with later changes). The wooden door is constructed with concentric panels, painted green and covered with nails. The brass knocker in the shape of a lion's head is in the center.
