FA3 - An X-Man No More!

The way Magneto is positioned seems to imply this is after he had his mind wiped (at which point Colossus began to care for him), but that comes on a later card.

FA2 - Cable Destroyed!

Hilariously, two of the seven installments of "Fatal Attractions" aren't referenced in this subset, in part because X-Men #25 gets two moments (sorry, X-Factor #92 and Excalibur #71!).

#TradingCardADay #XMen #FUXM1 #FatalAttractions

FA1 - Behold Avalon!

This set goes all-in on inserts, with 4 different chase subsets of original cards, most with some kind of holographic foil embellishments.

First up, a set commemorating the '93 crossover, Fatal Attractions.

150 - Checklist

The ever important checklist card! Kids these days have no idea how critical this was to knowing what was on the cards you were missing (assuming kids these days even know what trading cards are...).

#TradingCardADay #XMen #FUXM1 #Checklist

149 - Wolverine vs. Lady Deathstrike

Unlike most of the "Vs" cards, this one speaks more generally to their rivalry vs. showcasing a specific battle. Though the quasi-snowfall on front channels Uncanny #205.

#TradingCardADay #XMen #FUXM1 #WolverinesGreatestBattles #KentWilliams

149 - Wolverine vs. Lord Shingen

Now THAT is some Wolverine hair!

Too bad this card isn't the earlier fight between them when Wolverine is all sad sack and Shingen whoops him with a wooden sword.

#TradingCardADay #XMen #FUXM1 #WolverinesGreatestBattles #MarkSasso

147 - Wolverine vs. Punisher

This is Zeck basically redoing the cover of Punisher War Journal #7.

#TradingCardADay #XMen #FUXM1 #WolverinesGreatestBattles #MikeZeck #PhilZimelman

146 - Wolverine vs. Sauron

Big "side of the van" energy on this one.

This is referencing the story in Wolverine #69-71, which is easily the most recent story in the batch.

Also, Sauron is NOT a mutant.

145 - Wolverine vs. Cable

Commemorating the time Wolverine showed up in New Mutants & fought Cable but I just remember for when Dragoness makes out with Cannoball.

#TradingCardADay #XMen #FUXM1 #WolverinesGreatestBattles #DanBrereton

144 - Wolverine vs. Hellfire Club

Commemorating the battle which more or less put Wolverine on the map (give or take a White Queen)! Does a good job of not feeling overcrowded and still action-packed.

#TradingCardADay #XMen #FUXM1 #WolverinesGreatestBattles #PeterBollinger

142 - Wolverine vs. Silver Samurai

I wouldn't have expected it, but Silver Samurai against a gray/white backdrop actually pops a little.

#TradingCardADay #XMen #FUXM1 #WolverinesGreatestBattles #ValMayerik

142 - Wolverine vs. Spider-Man

Commemorating that one-shot that effed up the Hobgoblin story!

I appreciate that this is set in a graveyard; Lawlis did his homework.

141 - Wolverine vs. the Thing

As someone who wasn't reading FF much at the time, trading cards of this era did a GREAT job of making me think the story where Wolverine slashed Thing's face was a HUGE DEAL.

#TradingCardADay #XMen #FUXM1 #WolverinesGreatestBattles #RayLago

140 - Wolverine vs. Hulk

One of my favorite of the "Wolverine Vs." cards - both for the visual heft of the figures and for featuring Wolverine's whisker mask!

#TradingCardADay #XMen #FUXM1 #WolverinesGreatestBattles #DanLawlis

139 - Wolverine vs. Omega Red

Design-wise, going landscape for these "vs." cards makes sense, but I don't love how the card name stays in the same spot as if the image was portrait oriented.

#TradingCardADay #XMen #FUXM1 #WolverinesGreatestBattles #ScottHampton

138 - Wolverine vs. Cyber

Cracking these packs as a kid, I didn't realize just how many Marvel greats worked on this set. We've had John Romita Sr., Bill Sienkiewicz, and now Mike Zeck.

#TradingCardADay #XMen #FUXM1 #WolverinesGreatestBattles #MikeZeck #PhilZimelman

137 - Wolverine vs. Sabretooth

New category: Wolverine's Greatest Battles!

Recognizing what all the kids really want in 1994, this set just goes all-in on Wolverine for one of its categories.

#TradingCardADay #XMen #FUXM1 #WolverinesGreatestBattles #MarkSasso

136 - Thunderbird

Can't do a collection of inactive X-Men without arguably the most famous one of all.

Somewhere along the way, I misplaced this card, so these images are from @tradingcarddb.
