Something as simple as a door bending in or pounding in the ceiling just ratchets up the tension. #TheHaunting #TCMParty

This whole scene in the parlor is💅 Excruciatingly suspenseful. Masterful use of sound and lighting. We don’t see one ghost or one drop of blood. And yet…it’s terrifying! #TheHaunting #TCMParty

Only one way to argue with a woman, Doc... Don't. #TheHaunting #TCMParty

Haven't you noticed how nothing in this house seems to move until you look away and then you just... catch something out of the corner of your eye? #TheHaunting #TCMParty

Not nominating #TheHaunting for one Oscar was certainly a choice. How do you not nominate the production design or the cinematography? Like??? #TCMParty

If Hill House is a rockin’… don’t come a knockin’! #TheHaunting #TCMParty

Richard Johnson’s work in this often gets overlooked. His Dr. Markway is the anchor. His matter-of-fact performance gives the film instant credibility. It’s a brilliant exercise in subtlety. #TheHaunting #TCMParty

House that was “born bad”…love it or list it? #TheHaunting #TCMParty

Every time the 1999 version of #TheHaunting comes on TV, it reminds me how great the 1963 version is. Robert Wise went to the Val Lewton school of horror and wisely suggests rather than shows us every scare. That makes for a much better movie IMHO! #TCMParty

📽 This shot of Hill House is more scary in black and white than if this was filmed in color. 🎞

“It’s too early for Halloween movies.”

Bruh🤦🏼‍♀️ Hallmark puts on their insipid Christmas “movies” in July! Stores our Christmas stuff out before Halloween. I’ll celebrate spooky season as long as I damn well please! #TheHaunting #TCMParty

This is actually a rock solid adaptation of Shirley Jackson’s novel. #TheHaunting #TCMParty

Robert Wise really made one of the best horror movies in between two great musicals (West Side Story and The Sound of Music). GOAT behavior! #TheHaunting #TCMParty
