From #ADragonForDarius Vol. 4.
There is a great deal of humanity but we're going to go with monstrosity here, since I'm on that kick now.
CW: Drake is having a very bad day, captured by the All Father and subjected to psychic torture.

Everyone's (least) favorite sentient fly/ill-intentioned god makes an appearance...
He lives for the chaos. But in a dickish way.

The monsters in my two long form works are made chiefly by neglect - the umbilical cord of worship they were accustomed to severed, to be left a festering stump amid environmental ruin. Hell hath no fury like an idol or deity scorned. #TBBChat
TBB Chat Q5: Show off an example of humanity or monstrosity in your work!
Again, it depends on which story because my brain craves ✨variety✨
But the reasoning behind the actions is often part of it. Plus it depends on whose perspective we’re reading.
They argue. Far too much. But they’re trying.
TBB Chat Q4: What makes a monster in your work?
#TBBChat 3:
Self-doubt and questioning their place in the world and the decisions they make are common for my characters. I have others who believe their own press articles and then find out they're actually not all that amazing.
I think I tend to put a spotlight on people who are flawed in a way that compromises their likability in a serious way. I hope the reader can bear with them despite that, because they have that very human trait of humour and longing for connection - to others, to their memories.

They don’t always feel like they’re all that human, but I think the desire to question what you are and push past simple answers (even—or especially—if It overcomplicates things) is itself very human
TBB Chat Q3: How do your characters embody humanity?
Relationships, I guess, platonic and romantic and familial and everything in between. Never really thought about it before.
I think there’s always something compelling in witnessing a person fully in their element doing what they’re passionate about, even if the activity doesn’t normally interest you.
I just like playing with weird activities.
