I agree! I was pleased to hear that doctor state as a fact that addiction *IS* a disease and in its chronic form requires chronic and ongoing treatment. There still remains some stigma to it, but I hope that we can move past those biases.

I can relate. It is a normal response to a human horror. We cannot become numb to these events. I hope we use these horrors as fuel to build and celebrate our communities.

It’s absolutely horrible that regular citizens in Israel were killed indiscriminately. However, I can’t stand that in Palestine they face atrocities of the same magnitude DAY AFTER DAY. Also so many media outlets just like to pretend now everything is fine.

I think the politics is finally pivoting away from cable tv ads to YouTube ads and social media ads and I think it is because they may be targeting the younger demographic. This is the most ads I have seen for politicians on my social media .

YES. Im glad that PBS mentioned this quote, i believe that people should not depend on products like Ozempic because there is still a possibility that it is a TEMPORARY solution to addiction. What happens if there’s no more?

I'm glad GLP-1 is helping people get sober and helping them. But are they going to rely on it for their entire lives. I don't know I'm just thinking that one day they might relapse because they don't have GLP-1. Interesting topic @studentstalkpols.bsky.social #StudentsTalkPolitics

It's interesting to see how human beings putting external substances in their bodies is becoming easier, but I have a feeling that depending on these substances can make it so that society becomes a dystopia where Big Pharma has most of the power, vaguely like in Cyberpunk2077

Politicians are focusing on their specific regions and what those regions are struggling with. I have seen mostly advertisements on YouTube describing that mostly one of the Democratic candidates could help with inflated food prices.

Interesting factoid: Fentanyl deaths have declined in the last couple of years! This is good news.

"Glad you made it back" is a common greeting at substance abuse program meetings. The implication is that there's no guarantee that if you stay in the addiction that you'll EVER be able to get out and back into sobriety.

This applies to basically all substance abuse but I feel like we should treat it as an actual disease rather than completely berate and ostracize people who genuinely are trying to get better. It seem like people don’t actually understand the concept of an ADDICTION.
