The music at 5:20 to around 6:30 is beautiful and I could listen to it all day. I do not think it would hit the same with visuals. Something about no visuals add to the music. The lack of image really let me take it in and appreciate it. #soundstudy

i was confused at 8:00 as there is all these loud sounds and i thought something bad happened as i heard sirens and someone saying "somebody help me" but the narrator said that they are at a playground. This confused me because some of the sounds didnt add up to what she was saying #soundstudy

before reading TMISM i would not have focused so much on everything that you hear, like the background noises, the dialogue, the different effects, etc. #soundstudy

5:18-5:40 sounds like a woman singing which I found to be a bit unsettling bc with the voice and the ocean sounds, it reminded me of Sirens, who are mythical creatures in the ocean that lure people in with their singing. I liked it without the visuals because I was able to imagine this #soundstudy

Back to the first prompt about what stood out to me, I think the fading and echoing were supposed to represent the eventual loss of those fleeting fragments. It turned the once nostalgic music into a fear of forgetting precious memories. That is why it became so unsettling. #soundstudy

I think TMITM helped me focus on the audio more holistically. I started listening by waiting for the speaker, but then I realized I needed to pay more attention to the background and minute sounds I would've missed. #soundstudy

What stood out to me most was the very end at 9:13. She keeps echoing "fleeting, fizzing, fragments" as the strings from the beginning return. It wouldn't have hit the same with visuals. The solo audio allowed me to focus on what I was hearing without being distracted by another medium. #soundstudy

I really like how they mentioned "fleeting fragments", it really connects to what we talked about in Hwa2 #soundstudy

I really noticed how intentional the contrast in volume was for certain parts, as well as what was being added and taken away from the background noises/music #soundstudy

I was taken aback at 8:00 because there was almost a sudden commotion of things happening, all of a sudden, that got louder. I think it would've hit the same even with visuals because it was so sudden and almost feels unrelated to the dialogue #soundstudy

While listening to the audio, especially when the narrator was speaking, it made me feel like I was listening to an audiobook instead of a sound experiment. #soundstudy

Something in this audio did that I wouldn't have noticed without reading TMITM, is how uncomfortable/anxious the muffled chatter of the restaurant and the surrounding sounds made me feel while the narrator was talking. #soundstudy.

A timestampt that moved me was at 5:45. This moved me bcause the music combined with the sound of the waves really made me imagine myself at a peaceful beach. #soundstudy

I also noticed the clattering of the utensils made me think of a school cafeteria because of the commotion and the voices of different people

Before coming to this class I probably would've listened to this audio and moved on. Now I catch myself noticing why there's no image, and how that missing visual is actually making me pay more attention to the voice itself. That's not something I would've noticed before reading TMITM

The sound of waves moved me and it was calming.
If there was an image it would have been more comforting as one could see the waves crash on the shore, but the lack of visual made me notice the voice more carefully

The only thing that confused me is what she meant and what language she speaks when she started talking. What I might steal from it is the smooth transition, it’s what I like about the sound track. #soundstudy

@chillmountaineer.bsky.socialSep 20, 2026, 10:34 PM

I think the changes in sound such as the birds chirping and the waves then to transition to the siren is something I would steal. It led to a change in feeling from serenity to uneasiness. #soundstudy

@chillmountaineer.bsky.socialSep 20, 2026, 10:29 PM

I do not think I would have noticed how I felt as a result of the conditions of which the information was presented to me. I took the time to internalize these sounds and their impact on my overall feelings. #soundstudy

@chillmountaineer.bsky.socialSep 20, 2026, 10:26 PM

The very eight-minute mark unsettled me. I went from a feeling of tranquility from the 3.5 minutes to surprise due to the siren. I think it would have hit the same way with visuals as I was instantly reminded of an urban city such as NYC and seeing it would match the visualization. #soundstudy
