Yesterday it was all about “what have we really learn about language thanks to neural data?” Today we heard “what have we learned about language thanks to animal data?”. I’m afraid by tomorrow it will be clear we Know nothing about language. 😅 #SNL2026

Ever wonder why we understand a story the same way whether we read it or hear it? 👀Our eyes process visual input. 👂Our ears process auditory input. 🤔But somehow, our brains make sense of both.

Day 2 of #SNL2026 (@snlmtg.bsky.social) is about to kick off with a panel on a personal favorite: language evolution with @braininspired.bsky.social, @ybecker.bsky.social, Sonja Kots and Richard Hahnloser
TODAY at 12:30 at registration desk!! @snlmtg.bsky.social #SNL2026
NeLLab + 1 excited for Day 2 of #SNL2026!
@snlmtg.bsky.social
Many members of the lab are attending #SNL2026, as presenters and/or volunteering among the staff. Don't hesitate to get in touch: we love to nerd out with old and new friends!
tl;dr = my #SNL2026 includes 2 posters + 1 satellite event + 1 toddler refusing sleep... resulting in a PhD student who is running off of pure excitement for these projects, all the presentations & knowledge shared over the course of this week, plus the chance to meet colleagues new & old! 🌟
At #SNL2026 this week with 2 posters tomorrow (work from my DocMobility @ BCBL with @nicolaml.bsky.social + ongoing PhD work with @vborghesani.bsky.social :D). I was also grateful to co-organize and host the SNL satellite event for @smallworldofwords.bsky.social with Simon De Deyne on Tuesday 🧵
Come see us tomorrow @ #SNL2026! 👋 Four posters from three PhD students, morning & afternoon, plus other NoCE members who are attending/volunteering! @snlmtg.bsky.social @licataae.bsky.social @srahsa.bsky.social @alessahausmann.bsky.social
A recap of the 1st day at #SNL2026 🧠: Keynote by John O’Keefe (rodent hippocampus & spatial lang), 2 Slide Sessions on early dev & speech perception, Symposium (how can neural evidence constrain theories of lang processing?), 2 Poster Sessions, & great discussions over ☕ & 🍽️. See you tomorrow! 👋
A glimpse from our welcoming reception last night @ Campus Biotech! @fcbg-neuro.bsky.social. A great way to kick off #SNL2026 : reconnecting with colleagues and meeting new ones over some fondue 🫕 many attendees also joined tours of the HNP facilities (see a virtual tour here: youtu.be/M5QEj-5IxfI).
John O’Keefe navigating the language field, a symposium on the role of neural evidence for language theory, two poster sessions & two slide sessions: the second day of #SNL2026 had something for all tastes!
Posters at #SNL2026 by Cognition Language and Plasticity Lab and collaborators! Come by for a chat on Thu Session D (D8) and and Fri Sessions E (E54) & F (F74)

Going for the afternoon #SNL2026 round (with @snlmtg.bsky.social) on the following topic: "How can neural evidence constrain theories of language processing?" Great question, let's find out!
It's always a delight to see psycholinguistics stimuli that make use of the richness of human language. Today's example: Playing a recording to newborn infants of someone saying "The uptight mollusk drew a polearm." #snl2026 doi.org/10.1111/desc...
This was a superinteresting talk. It also raises the question: to what extent do e.g. LLMs have spatial vectors encoding these relationships and how this would work if you include LLMs with more world-representation models #SNL2026
