Top view of the lid to my clear plastic bottle of vitamin D gummies. The lid is 2 inches in diameter and VERY yellow. SO yellow that it's hard to read the YELLOW words on it. Fortunately I own a pair of sunglasses and can therefore tell you that the words in the outer circle say "PUSH DOWN AND TURN TO OPEN" followed by an arrow pointing in a counter-clockwise direction. I can also tell you that the words in the inner circle say "CLOSE TIGHTLY" followed by a clockwise arrow. AND I can tell you that - having followed these instructions to the letter - I have the lid off and can see the yellow, orange, and red gummies lurking inside the bottle. Unfortunately, neither the lid nor the label on the bottle tells me how to get these gummies out. Do I tip the bottle? Do I grab a spoon? Should I order a special set of tongs? Or ask my insurance company to pay to have a home health care nurse come out and assist me? Perplexed, I have fallen back on "CLOSE TIGHTLY" until the company responds to my request for further guidance. In the meantime I find myself in the possession of a dandy emergency maraca - WOOHOO!

Wicker basket - or maybe I should say wicket plate (8 inches in diameter) since it's flat with a raised edge that's only 1.25 inches high. A recent purchase in anticipation of fall's bounty (although it was sold as a place to dump my keys). I paid about 10 dollars for it - which I thought to be a great bargain considering that it would have taken me many months to make one on my own (and even after all that time the result would have ended up looking like a wicker mess). I'm generally not a big fan of wicker but I DO like to say "wicker" and now I have an excuse to do so. Not that I needed an excuse, exactly, but... maybe that's only the case in my state. If I ever travel to a state where one MUST have an excuse to say "wicker" I'm prepared now. What a relief! Wicker basket (or plate) with some of this fall's beautiful harvest in it. I believe they're called gourds. I didn't grow these particular gourds but somebody did, and that's all that's important, isn't it? Although displaying gourds that nobody grew would have its own charm, I'm sure. Hmmm.... Perhaps I need to buy another wicker basket (or plate) and display the two types of gourds (i.e., those grown by somebody and those grown by nobody) and see which ones prove to be most popular with visitors and guests. (And family members, too, I suppose, IF they can remember not to claw the furniture or pee on the rugs like they did when I invited them over to see the latest additions to my wax fruit collection.)

Eiffel Tower pendant. About 1.25 inches in diameter (almost exactly the same size as the Good Conduct Medal I posted a few days ago). The Tower and its immediate surroundings appear to have been painted or imprinted on a hard beige material. There's a horizontal strip of black printed words on the left side but I can't make out what they say. This pendant may be old or maybe it was just made to look old. I can't recall how I came to possess it. Perhaps it was a gift from a friend or family member who visited Paris. Perhaps it caught my eye when I was in an antique store at some point and I bought it. Perhaps I won it in a poker game or at a carnival. Perhaps I stole it from a baby in a stroller when no one was looking. Perhaps it came to me on the collar of a stray dog or cat. Perhaps I made it myself. Perhaps no one at all made it and it just randomly popped into existence out of nothing along with all the rest of us and our pseudo-memories five nanoseconds ago. All I know for sure is that the muffin that was the subject of my last photo tasted MUCH better! (Fortunately, that's all I really need to know.)

Some simple drawings depicting a few "simple" usages of Mister E's GC (LA Nervatura M.). LEFT: Shows him able to turn into a massive dark sphere with two disembodied hands, called his "Rs-Mode". It's noted this form chases endlessly, is way faster than it looks, and that everything becomes 110% catchable. This seems to terrify Fifty-Two. There's also a deeply unrelated drawing of Fifty-Two trying to walk with two legs at the bottom. RIGHT: In his Rs-Mode as he lightly shakes a skyscraper as his "arms" stretch put to search inside. There's a nearby drawing with him flying pretty fast in this form. Kroger-brand fresh-baked chocolate chip muffin. A REAL muffin, with real sugar and real chocolate and... real calories. Some 480 calories, to be exact - almost as many as a McDonald's Big Mac. But MUCH yummier! About 3 inches in diameter. (I'd say more but the drool is making my keyboard too slippery for me to continue!)

Top view of a night light with a vintage Edison-style LED bulb. It has what appears to be a bare filament that glows a beautiful orange within an unfrosted glass globe. Measures about 1.75 inches in diameter. It's just the thing if you want to go to bed thinking that it's actually 1900 instead of 2026. (Of course I'd rather go to bed sometimes thinking that it's actually 1776 but I can't figure out how to plug in a campfire.) The plug part of the vintage Edison-style night light. It's round, of course - but it also has 3 round screws in three recessed round spaces. AND the round GE logo at the left center! AND a round circle near the very center containing the letters ETL. I really got my money's worth when I bought this baby! There's some other info scattered about as well but the only thing I care to mention is the "MADE IN CAMBODIA" part near the bottom. I think this is the first and only item that I own with those words on it. It seems rather surreal that a place that used to be in the news as a US bombing target and then as the place where a terrible genocide unfolded is now selling me an imitation Edison night light. And it gives me hope that maybe 50 years from now something at least half as useful will come out of Mar-a-Lago.

White Life Saver with the words "LIFE SAVERS" in slightly raised letters around its face in an arc. About an inch in diameter. "Wint O Green" flavor. One of about 50 that came in the bag I bought. That bag says that it "Tastes like zero degrees" - but that's not the term that came to mind as I sucked on my last one. The bag was an impulse buy - yet another one motivated by fond memories from my youth - and I ended up very disappointed. I tried hard to like the flavor but I couldn't despite giving it a go multiple times over several months. I finally ended up tossing the last 10 or so into the trash. I guess the good news is that they're only 15 calories each. And in researching them I discovered that they were invented by Clarence Crane, the father of poet Hart Crane, so maybe that will help me win a trivia contest someday. But really - the best thing about them was that I didn't end up choking to death accidentally swallowing one whole. (Wouldn't THAT have been ironic? Yes - yes indeed! But as much as I like irony, I'm kinda glad that didn't happen.)

Overhead view of a capped pipe I discovered in the ground while walking at a local park. It's about 5 inches in diameter and apparently made of some sort of blue-painted metal. It's not everyday that I discover an artifact like this while enjoying what I expected to be an all-natural experience. There was nothing nearby that it seemed connected to - no service building, no man-made water feature, no rocket launch pad - so I have to wonder if maybe it was left behind by one of the Native American tribes that used to live in the area. Or maybe - just maybe - my local chipmunks have started running plumbing to their underground burrows. Or is that something they've been doing for a long time now and I just haven't been paying attention? Hmmmm.... I was going to make a note to ask the next park ranger I see but now I'm afraid I'd just embarrass myself by revealing my utter ignorance about something all the kids know these days. *Making a note to ask the next kid I see instead*

The front side of a US WWII Good Conduct medal. Made of bronze. The slightly raised words "EFFICIENCY - HONOR - FIDELITY" appear in an arc just inside the outer edge. The center depicts an eagle atop a Roman sword atop a closed book. About 1.25 inches in diameter. I inherited it about 15 years ago from a male relative who served in the US Army Air Corps (1944-45). He was the tail gunner in a bomber and didn't have much to do because at that point the skies over Europe had been pretty much cleared of Axis planes. Had it been me I probably would have been awarded a Bad Conduct medal for puking all over the plane every time it took off with me in it. Back side of the Good Conduct medal. Laurel and oak leaves frame the center in which the words "FOR GOOD" appear above a star representing merit and a blank ribbon/irregular rectangle space. The word "CONDUCT" appears under that. You can buy similar versions on eBay for about 20 dollars. Some have the name of the recipient (poorly) engraved inside the ribbon. Many do not. I don't know why. Some have a red ribbon with white vertical stripes attached to the (unphotographed) loop at the top. This one does not. Some are in the original box. This one is not. My relative didn't talk about his service much. That may have been because he was trying to forget or repress bad memories, but I don't think so. Instead, he always seemed rather bored by it all. Maybe that's why Steven Spielberg hasn't ever answered the letter I wrote him suggesting he make a movie about my relative. Or maybe I forgot to put a stamp on the letter. If he ever gives me a reply, I'll let you know (if I still know how to write).
