So the proposal for an AI factory to support AI systems prone to hallucinations, was in fact a hallucination. #politas

A serial cooker candidate felt it necessary to imply elsewhere that he knew this account existed - to be clear I have this specifically for robust & public political discourse.

Bluesky, Ph No., & address are all linked with my contact info too if one looked.

Unlike gutless said candidate. #politas

"Mr Curtis's colourful past." Criminal past is the phrase you're looking for. Just another tech bro looking to increase his wealth at the expense of communities and the environment. Our piss weak, pathetic state government is going to let him. #politas

I didn't immediately grasp the significance of the latest Louise Elliot code of conduct saga. This is actually suspension strike three and if her appeals fail and she is re-elected then she could be dismissed from council in the next term. #lgtas #politas www.abc.net.au/news/2026-10...

Seen a report that an experienced candidate for a mayoralty said on FB that renters can't vote. Haven't directly verified post but staggering ignorance if true. Renters are in fact now REQUIRED to vote in the council within which they are enrolled. #lgtas #politas

I so hope this completely falls over, but knowing how utterly bloody stupid Tasmanian Lib/Lab politicians are, I wouldn't be surprised if the government with Labor's support helped Firmus with its funding issues. Watch this space. #politas

The conditional language in the Tasmanian Government’s Draft Expectations for Data Centres and AI Infrastructure Developers - e.g. “some proposed”, “may” - is doing a lot of heavy lifting for this disclaimer. Submissions due Monday 12th October. #politas

One more time for the end of the week! #lgtas #politas

West Tamar candidate Will Gordon, a twice former state Labor candidate, "withdraws" from council race after ballots are printed. The withdrawal has no effect; if he is elected he would have to then resign to not take the seat. #lgtas #politas

The arts and culture sector isn't a big priority for the Tasmanian government. It's not a coincidence that state government departments have been told to find $1.5B in savings. That's a nice chunk of change to be redirected to the stadium. #politas

As of yesterday, with the official determination of the #politas #auspol electorates, one can pass through all five electorates taking only intercity busses. (Or I guess if you want to be boring, driving National Highway 1. You're no fun.)

A slightly late #OnThisDay. It was the 71st birthday of Paul Anthony Lennon, who was born on 8 October 1955 in Hobart, Tasmania. He served as the 42nd Premier of Tasmania from 2004 to 2008 as leader of the Labor Party. #OTD #history #politas #taspol #taspolitics #politics

Oregon has a population >4 times that of Tasmania, & many times greater GDP.

0.1% of Tasmanian employment is about 300 (under actually). I only know of three AI factories definitely in the works, so about 8 jobs for those three sites.

I know that’s rudimentary maths, but just sayin’. #politas

I can’t begin to explain the level of deep, deep satisfaction and schadenfreude that will come from seeing this company collapse. I’d say cross your fingers, but we may not even have to 🫧
