Qué guilt attack comprobar que le han dado el Nobel a Carson sin haber colgado la review de su poemario más conocido (y del que he copiado en mi "cuaderno de inspiracion" tantos versos). La fecha de lectura ha sido implacable: junio de 2025. La gran cantidad de libros leídos sumada al escaso interés de mis reviews, me hace saltarme obras no siempre conocidas de géneros minoritarios, que merecen todos los focos. ¿Y qué hay más invisible que una mujer poeta? En este bello, doliente e inolvidable 'The Beauty of the Husband', Carson nos narra con un estilo nada clásico y convencional (mezclando versos con diálogos, citas de autores y prosa poética) la espinosa y difícil relación con su marido infiel, mentiroso patológico y persona despreciable con 0 responsabilidad afectiva. Enamorada de él desde su adolescencia, conmueve la honestidad de la autora al confesar el poder noqueante y anulador que el deseo + la belleza de su pareja, a pesar de no merecerlo, ejerció sobre ella a lo largo de los años. Y aquí es donde mi voz termina y empieza la suya: "Loyal to nothing my husband. So why did I love him from early girlhood to late middle age and the divorse decree came in tbe mail? Beauty. No great secret. Not ashamed to say I love him for his beauty. As I would again if he came near. Beauty convinces. You know beauty makes sex possible". * "Perfection rested on them for a moment like calm on a lake. Pain rested. Beauty does not rest". * "Fate's my bait and bait's my fate. On a June evening Here''s my advice, hold. Hold beauty".
